Any value in booking the train early from Stanstead to Cardiff?

3 months in advance is when the cheapest tickets will go on sale. I think the Stansted into London tickets are always the same but the Paddington to Cardiff leg can vary depending on the time etc. Worth checking the individual legs as opposed to just buying a through ticket as you could save money. I use the "Split your Ticket" website when booking train tickets as it usually gives the cheapest options.

Alternatively, Megabus prices start at £1. Great value if you can get them. Edited by brendy_éire - 29 Mar 2017 at 3:15pm |

Yeah, that's exactly it. Paddington to Cardiff should start around about £20, I'd guess. Just don't try to get a train between 4pm and 7pm out of Paddington.
From Stansted, I don't think there are any cross-country style options to Cardiff. I think you'll have to go through London. |

Best (Quickest and/or Cheapest) way of getting from Stansted to Cardiff or Birmingham to Cardiff, weighing up the options at the moment. Need to book something soon.

Yeah there are toilets on them buses. I would have been in trouble if there wasn't when I got one from London up to Glasgow the time we played them.

National Express have buses running from Cardiff. There is a bus which leaves Cardiff at 04.30 which gets you there at 05.50. There are some earlier options as well.
