That would be some team if we have Sontana, Okoflex, Odubeko and Parrott involved come next years championships.

That's a fairly impressive result for the under-17s considering a large portion of the players are based in the LOI.

The Turks always produce some good players, so perhaps this is a sign that the underage leagues are working.

We should be looking to do very well in the upcoming under-17s tournament.

I agree, and it's great to hear such encouraging progress at this age group. Was particularly well impressed by the short bit of footage I saw from Deji Sotona at Man U.

I've honestly never heard of either of these 2 lads. A quick google shows they might be decent players.

U.17s 2-0 up against Turkey just approaching half time. Cian Kelly & Matt Everitt with the goals.

Interesting read here- apologies if posted already. Study of the last six U17 tournaments and the players who took part in them.

A few standout points;
Only 15% of U17 internationals go on to play senior football- thats a general percentage.
In Ireland, that figure drops to 5%.
3.6% of players go on to represent other countries at senior level.
In Ireland, only one out of 176 Irish players to play in the last 6 tournaments has done so- Michael Keane, while only a further 2 have defected (Grealish & Crowley) but have yet to win a senior cap.
21% of Irish players selected in that time were lads born outside the country, while the average is just above 3%.

Young lads should be reminded of this to stop them being so cocky.

I know a fella who walked away for the Irish underage set up as he said it was no longer a pleasure working with kids. All humility had gone out the window. They thought they were superstars because they were signed with City or Liverpool.
