Don’t think it was anything to do with “begrudgery” there was this strange narrative created about Collins that he wasn’t playing well at Brentford (bar the Everton game where he’d a shocker) when in the main he’s been very good for them.

The Greece game he wasn’t great and got it in the neck on here over it.

Strong headed finish for his first Premier League goal since back when he was at Burnley.

Edit - and it ends up being the match winning goal.

Seventh Irish goal in the Premier League this season, only one fewer than there was in the whole of last season.

CB is one of the positions on the pitch where it takes the longest to mature in due to the concentration levels needed. He’s 22. If he’s still making the same mistakes at 25, then he’ll never live up to his potential, but I’d cut him some slack at 22.

Good to see him go back yo his club and keep 2 clean sheets. He has the potential to be a good PL defender.

Not buying the “young” thing anymore, he’s either good enough or not irrespective of age. Any mistakes are not down to being young but are part of a player’s limitations. In Nathan’s case he is defo good enough. Stephen Kenny has made our defence so bad over last couple years I don’t think any defender has come out looking good. The new manager should prioritise getting us solid back there again and Collins will be part of that. Can build a good team around players like him…

2 weeks ago he wasn’t a top flight defender and Brentford were hoodwinked into breaking their transfer record to buy him. Good to see he’s back!!

Bar a horror show admittedly against Everton he has been solid for Brentford this season. The Greece game he wasn’t great but who was? Had no issue with Kenny hooking him even if he was being selective about who he’s scapegoating! It might have been a wake up call for Collins.

Probably impossible for any defender to look good playing for us in the last few years. We're so open to play against that any mistake is likely to be punished. While everyone wants attacking football it would all be for nothing anyway if we don't have a defensive structure that works. Not that we've had much in the way of decent attacking football either, it's been crap at both ends of the field.

But the first job for the next manager will be to get us solid and organised at the back. Because we have players like Collins back there who are good enough if they're given a decent structure to work within.

His best performance in months.

Needs to start putting a few of these type of games together.

Only seen second half. Was good.

He is definitely the most naturally gifted centre back we have. I think he just has the odd brain fart and makes wrong decision. Still be in my team every match. He still young too in centre back terms and playing in the Prem will surely help to cut down on the odd mistake.

Hooked at half time against Greece and has gone straight back into the Brentford team keeping a clean sheet against Burnley last week and Chelsea this week.

This lad is going to be a top player for us for the next ten years and I don’t understand the criticisms of him.

Our entire back line look clueless under Kenny, there’s no defensive structure at all.
