Great episode apart from the end.John Sullivan admitted he just couldn't come up with a satisfactory ending.

As regards A Royal Flush, Sullivan picked it out as one of his least favourite episodes and said he was away making Just Good Friends when they were filming that one so didn't have his usual input. That must also explain why Del is so different in that episode to the rest of the series. He's a complete prick in it with no redeeming side to him.

I still maintain Del's behaviour in that makes ZERO sense.  Good episode but doesn't make sense.

Question. Was Del’s Behaviour in that episode an act of great love (for Rodney as he tried everything he could) gone horribly wrong, or was it just a sub-conscious act of sabotage? or maybe even a conscious act of sabotage?

There were often cold moments when Del mentioned the sacrifices he made for Rodney, and of course the episode where he stepped out on the deal with Jumbo to go to Australia. Was it payback?

This storyline doesn't make sense to me. In the episode Del Boy does everything he can for Rodney to impress her.  He gets him opera tickets and spends hundreds on getting Rodney kitted out in country hunting gear for his trip up to Berkshire.  Del says that her dad has probably told her to marry a scrag to water the old blue blood down and he thinks Rodney is in the frame.  So he goes to all this trouble to make it happen then arrives at the Mansion in Berkshire and makes a fool of Rodney in front of the nobility.  At the end of the episode he alludes that he did it on purpose because if Rodney ended up with Vicky the Special Branch would bunk Rodney off for having a criminal record.
If this was what he was thinking then why go to all the expense and bother buying 4 very expensive opera tickets, expensive clothes etc...ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

Ya know the way market scenes in Only Fools and Horses were set in Bristol City Football Club's car park? In the episode Fatal Extraction when Rodney is dressed in skiing gear, you can see a stand from Ashton Gate in the background.

In the fishing trip episode with the psycho why does the gamekeeper just stand like a loony at the window with no normal reactions when Rodders opens the curtains?  Why does the psycho pretend to be Chief Robson and only turns into a psycho when Rodney and Grandad leave the house?

Watching Jolly boys outing there. Denzel tells Del he’s on antibiotics and Del doesn’t know what they are. In a previous episode Del tells Earl to tell the doctors to give his Dad antibiotics. How could Del forget what antibiotics are?

Think he only turned psycho when Del remarked that the storm was clearing away to reveal a full moon.

Good point about the gamekeeper though. LOL

Another thing that occurred to me which was a (sort of) regular theme in a number of episodes:

The scenes where a couple of the characters are having a 'private' conversation while other people are in the same or next room with the door wide open.

The best example is the one where Rodney goes on a date with a policewoman and brings her back to the flat. Del takes Rodney over to the window to pull him up about the stolen watch Rodney had given her and to warn him to watch what he says - while the woman is sitting on the sofa in the same room! She is bound to be able to hear every word they're saying, they're not even whispering ffs! And even if they were, she would surely get suspicious as she should do if she is trying to make a career in the police. LOL

Its either another plot hole or she's not going to be much of a police officer (I think we all know which - though TJ will certainly have made his mind up! WinkLOL).

Champs Elysees!!! LOL

Very trueLOL  In the psycho episode they were shouting that the knock ont he door could be anybody and Del telling Rodney to take a good look this time.  As if yer man at the door couldn't hear LOL

And Sandra the policewoman says she recognised all the knocked off stuff in the flat including the watches from Scotland Yard photos.  Yet she happily was in possession of stolen merchandise when she accepted and wore the watch Rodney gave her.  And why does she happily walk home with him to her flat and give him a  kiss and a hug before telling him that basically she will have them arrested unless they get rid of the stuff.
Also why would you bother coming round with the old bill to raid a flat you know will be clean?  Surely that raises more suspicions on her part for the cops as why would she know the stolen gear was there int he first place?  Would she have to confess that she was on a date with Rodney?

I can never get over the continuity error when it comes to Alan Parry.
Del first meets Cassandra and finds out he knows her aul boy. But he gives a description that is nothing like the Alan we know. Short, has a squint, walks with a limp etc. and Cassandra goes "that's him"

Clearly they had no plans at that point for Alan to be a character in the show or maybe Cassandra wasnt written to hang around the show for long.

Aye and he supposedly had one eye different colour to the other was it?

Also can't understand how Rodney's resignation was so easily accepted without as much as an effort to talk him out of it.  Why was he never offered another job when Alan Parry could see his daughter's husband was back selling sh*te down the market?

I noticed that around 1987-1990 the lads were starting to do well and earning money and wearing suits and Rodney got a good job and flat.  Then Sullivan shat his pants and wanted to bring them back as market traders lest he run out of story lines I'd say.

Characters who should have featured more:
Corinne (although she died in real life but wasn't featured enough at the time)
Abdul
Slater

It would have been a bit strange though if the actor (Jim Broadbent) who turned down the part of Del boy then became a semi regular in the series.
