City have now won the premier League more then Chelsea. 7 behind United. Amazingly you could see them catching up in a decade or so.

Coming up to a decade since SAF retired and apparently this season was their poorest return in 32 years (lest we forget that was the year that started it all). The neutral goal difference considering the sums spent on defenders over the past three years is remarkable, and while Ronaldo had a fairly good season, personally, it didn’t exactly help the cause. The gap between Man U and the Top Four has never been wider, let along getting back to winning titles.

Honestly, I don’t think there is any harm is discussing the PL in a vacuum, considering the seismic shift that has taken place in the past 30 years. For example, it was certainly noted when Oldham Athletic were relegated from League 2 last month to become the first ex-PL to fall into the non-leagues.

I’m unsure of your confusion. The original post refers to the PL. it’s specific, but after 30 years and the development and emerging of new forces it’s bound to generate discussion. Nobody said City would catch United in terms of titles won, but in terms of PL titles, the gap has closed.

Amazing statistic: Since SAF retired, MU have only sold one player on for a profit, Daniel James - and that was more Leeds' misjudgement than MU's shrewdness.
No doubt Ronaldo disrupted MU's shape/system over the season. But in the end, there were so many other things screwing that team up that without CR's 18 PL goals, they'd actually have been worse off without him on a "net" basis (no pun intended).
Well after their glory days in the 1970's/80's, Liverpool went 30 years without another League title, so who's to say MU will be any different? In the end, so long as MU continue to be a money-making machine regardless of how they do on the field, the Glazers won't sell other than for an eye-watering amount (nearer £10bn than £4 bn?). And there are very few buyers out there who could/would shell out that amount AND plunge another billion on new players/management/systems AND the same again on rebuilding/replacing Old Trafford, at least before they start winning titles again.. Which means they're very likely stuck with the Glazers for another few years. Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

Thing is there is no reason not to return to the top under the current administration. The amount of money spent, the types of managers employed, the advantages they’ve enjoyed, it’s unbelievable that but for holding onto Jesse Lingard they’d have actually finished in 7th place this term.

City signing Kalvin Phillips for £45m, feel this is a signing similar to Ake and Grealish! Not someone who is going to improve their starting 11.

That's just 20% of their budget for midfielders.

Definitely not a starting 11 player week in week out but a useful signing in that he can play a number of midfield positions and maybe even defensive positions to cover players....a good signing.

I haven't seen that much of him but from what I have i don't really rate him.
I'm sure if there's a position Pep knows about its midfield though and he can make a player of him. Jesus going to Arsenal for £45m also |
