Didn't Goram play for Manchester United at Anfield in March 2001 - Gerrard banged one past him from about 30 yards, it was in the middle of a succession of Liverpool victories over United, think Fowler might have scored as well off the crossbar

A quick Netscape shows Barthez played that game - Goram played in the victory over Coventry two weeks later, United ended up winning the title that day, when they used to win titles Was sure Goram had played against Liverpool

Spent a million on him, played him for 35 minutes in a League Cup game and then flogged him to Wednesday iirc. Was a strange one.

Why buy him in the first place then? Think Clough was in a bad enough place at that stage. Had fallen out with Taylor and was hitting the bottle hard. You'd imagine Taylor would have talked him round on it. Think they got knocked out by a lower league side in that cup game and Clough decided Sheridan was to blame. Never even spoke to him again over the 3 months he was there. That was that.

They had fallen out with 6 or 7 years at that stage, Taylor was hardly going to use the fate of John Sheridan to break the silence!

Played a few games for Chester at the end of his career when we were in the conference. Was even slower by then but his touch was unbelievable.
