Chances are he was buried at sea so there would be no grave people could visit and turn it into some shrine to the guy. Also as a muslim they like to be buried within 24 hours of death so that will be their excuse for the speed of dumping him into the water. Pity they didn't get him alive and put him on trial for his crimes. The public humilation of that would have been far more detrimental to him than dying. That lad didn't mind dying, all they have done is make him a marter for his cause.
The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!
