He's very well respected in Sunderland two great seasons with Drumaville.

Quinn in for two years would be a good idea. -Ensure that the next board strictly adheres into it's new governance rules and structures. -Quinn and Mick McCarthy would also see interest in the team in the short term jump up to good levels, -- -His name would also keep the current sponsors happy and secure new ones -The LOI to be properly addressed and new ideas implemented After those two years then it might make sense to step aside and let a new person to come in and take it to the next stage. The FAI is clearly in a huge mess and it will take a while to get into a proper state

Quinn won't touch it. His vision on Irish football lies elsewhere and would be a shame to drag him away from it.

If the LOI comes out from FAI control. Could see Quinn as the CEO of the league

I was at a Niall Quinn talk in last night in Sunderland and I asked him after recent events would you consider a role in the FAI?
He said not at the moment and they should be looking to recruit young bright guys with ambition. The Quinner also said the structure of the FAI could and should be a lot better likewise the international teams.

Tommy Conlon in the Irish Indo about the Quinner.
Re Mother Teresa nickname " Speaking of pints,Quinn in his day drank enough of them to sink the Titanic. His legs weren't just long they were hollow too. So if the legendary nun of the slums of Calcutta was really anyhing like him she'd have to become the patron saint of porter instead." Edited by Double Maxim - 27 Jan 2020 at 12:39pm |

As ever, Christopher Hitchins nailed it: And this was written before she died, so he can't be accused of leaving her unable to answer back. The story of the "Miracle of the Light" is classic and for good measure also skewers that self-righteous old hypocrite, Malcolm Muggeridge.

His appearances on TV are probably necessary though. The image of the FAI since Gibraltar has never been as low. Quinn is a popular and recognisable face who can help to restore a positive image to the association when it's needed most.
Greater investment and funding could be a bi-product of these appearances.
