Their fans are very bitter about Mick but can't bring themselves to admit they might just be a rubbish side and that he was doing the best he could under the circumstances. It's funny how their results have nosedived since their "terrible" manager left.

I spotted that! The poor f**ker couldn't have taken much from that, it was an awful game.

Wasn't that bad ...clean sheet from Stevens, Egan and the rumored to be declaring O'Connell would be positives in my book. Egan almost scored from a headed corner only for his own player taking an unnecessary touch and ruled out for offside.

McGoldrick was lively and had 3 or 4 good chances, one being ruled out for being a fraction offside.

It was brutal to watch. Reading offered nothing in attack, O'Connell and Egan won't have many easier games than that. I thought McGoldrick was very poor too. His offside goal was a lovely finish alright, it was criminal to be offside in that position though. No awareness.

Nice reminder of Mick’s qualities from Jonny Williams in the Sunderland documentary:

"I am scared to lose the ball. Scared to miss. Scared of failure."

He adds that Chris Coleman (previously his manager with Wales) and Mick McCarthy are the only two managers who have made him feel unafraid on the pitch.

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

Mick said they had a good meeting. Wants to build a team around him. He's left it up to him to make his call before March obviously enough.

Intends to speak to Bamford as well

Seems like he has done everything possible to get Rice to commit anyway. Told him he wants to build the team around him and he could win 100 caps for Ireland.

Encouraging stuff from Mick, good to see he's set a deadline and is considering all options available to us.
