Good that the right thing has now been done.
Good that people are being full looked after.
Good that the ownership were big enough to hold their hands up and say they got it wrong.
Good that the voice of fans can still make a difference.

No it hasn't. UEFA have instructed them to finish their season, or face expulsion from European club competitions next season. Same with all other European leagues.

The seasons will now be completed as scheduled, as no FA is going to vote for expulsions. Bundesliga clubs are now back in training.

UEFA can say and do what they like, but it doesn’t matter a damn. It is at the diktat of Government, and organisations like UEFA won’t matter a damn.

Nothing to do with Governments. When they give the go ahead, the leagues in those countries will all be completed. No FA will allow a situation where European spots are at risk, because of their actions.

Everything to do with Governments. If the PL said they were restarting on Saturday, what would the response be?

No surprise that you'd come out with such bollox as this
Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

When the British Government allow sports events to go ahead, the EPL will announce a date to resume the league within a couple of days. The Germans were back in training within days of them being allowed to. Italy and Spain are already proposing dates. When it's a straight choice of "play or sit out Europe next season", everyone will vote to play again.

Ah so you agree with me that it’s at the call of the Government.

Extra variables in this are that different countries will be ready to “re-open” at different times and the “re-open” strategy will vary by country, as has the handling to date. Each FA will need to come up with an approach to close rather than freeze/void their season. TV deals this and future seasons to play a big part as per what’s happening in the SPL.

This, I would imagine any sporting events that go ahead this side of Christmas would be mainly behind closed doors, Hope I’m wrong though.
Just because it's tradition does not make it right

Ah so you agree with me that it’s at the call of the Government.

Miguel Delaney was the first to break any story regarding news that the premier league were eyeing up May/ June as a possible 'restart date' for games behind closed doors and a few days before the story was published, he'd been on Second Captains with Jonathan Wilson talking preemptively about it and saying also that it already had backing in the UK government because it was felt that by then, people would need some sort of semblance of normality brought back in to their lives and that football was a good place to start.

As an aside, Sid Lowe was on the guardian pod yesterday talking about La Liga and that voiding the league in Spain would see them lose a billion dollars, to finish it behind closed doors, would lose them a much smaller amount of $350m and to play it out as ideally envisaged in front of fans, would lose them out on just $140m, I'd imagine you could just rudimentarilly scale that up for the premier league.

"You see, Law’s goal did not relegate Manchester United. They were going down anyway. His goal came in the 81st minute. At the time a draw wasn’t good enough for United. A win wasn’t even good enough for United. Results elsewhere meant they were going down even if, instead of Law adding insult to injury with a cheeky back-heeled finish, they had rattled off ten goals in the final ten minutes. In a football context it was a completely meaningless goal."
