Delighted for him Clap

I hope his head won't be turned soon by a club acorss the water because I feel it would be far more beneficial for him to stay in the LOI for the full campaign and get just get back to enjoying his football, if the right moves along then fine, if not stay where you are and keep playing matches week in week out.

He's only turning 23 next month, so he has plenty of time on his side.

This could be the jolt that Byrne needs to get hiscareer back on track. Very exciting that McCarthy is willing to fat track him like this

He might not be training as hard as he was in England but that seems a bit harsh.

Delighted for him. He has bags of potential and this will bring him on again.

In saying that, crowley should have been called up first

Completely irrelevant! This may be the point where YBIG enters into the fourth dimension as we have the call-up of a former cause célèbre  ahead of the current cause célèbre. If Jack had moved back to Holland, there would be wailing and gnashing off the teeth at his omission, but that wailing and gnashing is currently reserved for Danny and, to a lesser extent, Ryan Nolan.
Cillian Sheridan has had his cause célèbre status revoked when he moved to New Zealand.

Agree with all this, even if he was in ereste divisie the people complaining now wouldn't say a word. I wonder how many minutes of each player lads calling for Crowley or Johansson have seen (not solely referring to the forum here.

Couldn't agree more byrne a is fine player but Crowley is better and should have being called up,the squad announcement has being a joke,38 players called up and then pick lads for the final squad that weren't in the original 38,If he picking Byrne surely ROBINSON should have being called up to.

In fairness, while Mick may have been aware of him he didn't see Jack in the flesh until Friday, and he ran the show. Head and shoulders above everyone else. Very similar player to Crowley actually.

No better man than Mick to hopefully get things ticking again for Byrne.

Mick has seen Rovers 3 times this season, possibly 4 but can’t recall if he was at the Dundalk game

How was Crowley meant to play without the paperwork exactly?

If Byrne hadn't have been called up, there may well have been calls for him to be called up. The less you can be seen by Irish fans the bigger demand there is for you to be called up. A goal like that the other night would have had the Twitterati out in force. James McCarthy being a prime example of this phenomenon, he seems to have got better and better in people minds over the past couple of years.

Very highly regarded at West Ham and has made a number of PL matchday squads this year.

Or Luca Connell from the U19s - already made nearly as many Championship appearances as Byrne and 5 years younger than him.

Both players we should be making every effort to get included at senior level.

Why? Because they are both English?

The less you play for Ireland teh beter a player you are.

Although that may have been down to the 'coaching' from the last management team...

Micks most recent quoted certainly imply that Crowleys paper work has been processed but he chose not to call him up

How do you work that out? If anything, I thought the opposite.

That is the risk. With little effort he has made an international squad and that is a recipe for more big talk.

Glad he got called up.

Good for the league and there would be something wrong if it wasn’t good for him.
