Form aside, Kenny has some decisions to make come September. Has to put the best players on the pitch to suit way he wants to play. May have to test his loyalty.
That Nathan Collins goal sums up Kenny era and his approach to the game. No way Collins makes that run under previous managers. So refreshing. Kenny obviously doesn't give a monkeys what position you play. If you spot an opportunity, take it. Must be great to play with such freedom. Still needs the talent to back it up, but always needs the manager encourging risk taking in the first place.

I'm just relieved the wheels didn't come off for Kenny after the first two games.

Hourihane and hogan should be gone. For me Jeff still has a big role to play, especially if he can sort out his club situation. He's a better footballer than Molumby and he will be needed going forward, he's only 30 and looks after himself. He will be in and around the squad for a fair while yet. Smallbone should be promoted, Coventry and Kilkenny still have plenty to prove. Coventry ended the season in League One, Kilkenny ended the season out in the cold.

Didn't see what they said but that panel is a yawnfest. They must sleep in the studio. No rotation atal.

Needs to lose some the loyalty to certain players who haven't been cutting in awhile, he has reaped the benefits of these last 2 games giving young hungry and or lesser experienced players game time with a point to prove. Especially those who are inform for their clubs over others who simply aren't getting near enough minutes... Knight and Molumby were a breath of fresh air in midfield over Hendrick and Hourihane, much more energy, grit and far better link up play between the defense and forwards. Lenihan and Collins over Duffy and Coleman. Far, far more comfortable on the ball yet still physical and commanding enough where and when it matters. When Duffy is playing regularly hes a monster as seen the first half of last season, when hes not hes the Duffy that Celtic got. No point having him in the team purely as a goal threat if hes going to be shakey at the back giving up possession as easily as he did against Scotland. Similarly with Coleman when shoed in at LCB over Collins previously just because hes captain. Madness looking back at after this window. We should be playing our best players in the best positions or not at all. Parrott and Obafemi over Robinson and Ogbene. Obgene to a lesser extent but he looked to have been carrying a bit of an injury or just very tired after a long season. Robinson on the other hand just not at the races, miles off the pace in all 4 games he featured in. Just because the pair of them done the business the tail end of last season for Kenny in other games shouldn't make them automatic starters or undropable now. They should have been benched after the Armenia game. The sooner the better players like Coventry, Kilkenny, Smallbone etc come in and push Hendrick and Hourihane further down the pecking order the better. Likewise a fit Obafemi, Idah and Connolly with Hogan, Collins, Keane and to a lesser extent Robinson, the same.

Not often with finish on the front foot away against higher ranked team esp when missing some frontline players.

He seemed fairly emotional tonight during the interview. I know some results are hit and miss but for the first time in a long time I don't feel depressed after watching an Ireland game.

When you look at the 4 games overall, and the wrong side of results in the first two, it certainly looks more like a small misstep the first two. And even though we were definitely not good enough, we also weren't completely outclassed and muck, we just weret at the races for whatever reason

I genuinely could not believe that after all the promise at the end of the last campaign, he lost to Armenia in a performance identical to his first few, and followed it up with more of the same v Ukraine at home. Fair play to anybody who still 100% believed at that point. As I have said, this is a results business, not a possession or playing well business - and while those are nice to have, ultimately results come first. He has two big results now, probably the two biggest of his whole reign. It's been a long time since we had such a dominant performance at home vs a side with real quality, and winning so well, and another good performance away from home against a side with quality (most importantly with a result) - where we deserved to win (rather than a game we spent the majority of mostly hanging on like Portugal away, and didn't get a result). What those results mostly give though is a plausible belief that we can have a real go at qualifying from the Euro 24 group, because before Saturday I just could not see it.

We really need to move away from having 40/50/60 posts on this thread after every game.
