Yeah, I'd agree Neil has been a large part of their faltering. Has shown no faith whatsoever in them, his treatment of Horgan being particularly bizarre. I know Preston get a lot of props for taking guys over from Ireland, but maybe the next guy they go after would want to take a look at the bigger picture and see how quickly they'll discard you if you don't set the world alight.... Low cost also means guilt-free dispensibility unfortunately.

A mid league 1 team is probably Burke's real level.

They've signed Ginnelly and Stockley and have Maguire, Browne, Robinson, and eventually, Bodin and Harrop to come back in, and it's clear Neill doesn't really fancy him. I think a loan move to League One/Scotland during this window might be his best method of progression.

In fairness to Burke, Preston are septic. Watched some of that FA cup game the other day. Really puke football. Like watching O'Neill's Ireland. The type of football that makes any player look sh*te.

Was he ever played in his actual position? Played in a wingish position a lot. Not exactly playing to his strengths.

Unfortunately I don't think he will fare much better at Gillingham, he is not suited to the English lower leagues or a relegation scrap. The position he plays is one of the ones most likely to be dropped/subbed and he can easily be made a scapegoat as it might not look like he is working hard by running around making tackles, look at Ozil at Arsenal for example.
Would love to see it work out for him as he is a great player to watch and has lots of ability, would love to see him in another league in Europe.

As was said when he went over, he's probably too slow to make it in the positions he's playing. Decent footballer all the same, his skillfulness won't be best suited to a L1 relegation battle though.

Where do ya fit him in now in that midfield. You would have to play him as a striker really no? |

Id say he would play a striker, hes not a player rovers can turn down if hes available. Id love to have him back. The football Rovers play is already brilliant adding him into the mix would be unbelievable.

As long as Byrne is there, I don't see Burke going back. It's a shame for him that's not working out at Preston.
