If sober the train was brutal, bag of cans was a disaster as the toilets were closed during sections of the journey (near urban areas) as the contents went straight on the track. Air conditioning was poor as some **** would open a window and leave the heat in and the cold air out much to the annoyance of the train conductor who hadn't a word of English.
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.

Modern trains were grand and first class was 100%

There were some sh*ttier old trains but the modern ones had proper air con and retention tank toilets. The faster and slightly more expensive ones are the modern ones.

Was thinking of doing the same thing. Did you pre-book it beforehand or just try on the day you arrived?

There's a couple of companies coming up online but the only one I've heard of is sixt. Prices range from around €40 a day to a few hundred.

Booked it through rent a car Naniko (onlime before we went) and paid €50 a day. Picked up from the hotel in Kutaisi and dropped off back at airport so was a bit more.

We had it 3 days as went over to Batumi first.

The drive to Tbilisi was good and allowed us to stop off in Gori at our own leisure. Watch out for animals im the road!!

One week to the closing date, and no email. Very strange. I'm sure there'll be one in the morning. BTW. Anyone still looking to get to Tbilisi, Pegasus out of Manchester Thursday and returning Monday is still €368.70 return. IF you're doing both matches single direct from Manchester to Tbilisi on the Thursday is €153.  Pegasus from Tbilisi to Geneva one way on the Monday works out at €209.70. Aer Lingus home on Wednesday of Thursday is off the scale.

Lyon - Dublin single with Aer Finglas on Wednesday is €46.99 presently.

the train is also a good option. we took it after the last 16 match in lyon. at the time it was relatively cheap at €28 one way.

Seems much earlier than the Danish tickets. Thank you guys for the heads up, and it looks like the new closing date is August 2nd.

Looking at flying the Friday morning with Ryanair and SkyUp airlines, Dub-Berlin-Kiev-Tbilisi, leaves Dublin at 7am and gets into Tbilisi at 9pm local, only drawback is the stopovers are between 1hr 30 and 2hrs... Am I mad to book with such short stopovers or should i just bite the bullet? Only concern is passport control at Berlin can be absolutely farcical at times

Think you should be fine, purchase a front row seat to Berlin if your worried, you won't need to re enter the departure longe in Kiev providing you don't chech in luggage.

One risky stopover is fine but two is quite risky. There's a lot more to go wrong with two tight connections. Just take the flight the day before direct Dublin to Kiev.

I am thinking of getting that 15.35 Lyon to Dublin flight on the Wednesday. What is the best route to take from Geneva?

I did it in 2016 in reverse after we played France in Lyon, and took a bus to GVA, but I can't find a bus that will get me to Lyon airport on time. The trains are also very expensive to go direct to the airport.

Edit: This is the Georgia thread, I will post it in the Switzerland thread now Embarrassed
