I love how people use emotive words like this looking for people to bite.

Bernard Brogan won it in 2010, the loser that he was that year.

Yeh, if I was a Mayo person I would be fairly annoyed about all the loser references. Always sounds like begrudgery to me, a sort of bitterness, for what I don't know. If not for Mayo, Dublin wouldn't be the champions they are. Take your victory with some grace!
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

There isn't a hope in hell McCarthy deserves the player of the year what did he do to deserve it.
Lucky to get an all star

Presume this is a wind up but I'll bite anyway. MOTM in the All Ireland final playing for the winning team for a start. Moved effortlessly from half back to centre midfield and was key to so many Dublin attacks all season breaking through the middle of the park. Had a fantastic campaign.

It's not I taught it on the day as well he had a quite first half and got 2 points in the second half when there was more space.
Barrett from mayo was the best player that day.
Playing midfield and half back or half forward isn't that different in modern football it's not like he moved from Corner forward to midfield.
In fact the move from half back to midfield is the reason he was found further up the field more often than not.
And if your playing for a side as dominant as Dublin it's much easier to be involved in a lot of there good forward play.
Moran had 5 times the year McCarthy had.

So a Dublin player won't win player of the year because the team is too good and it too easy for their players as they are playing within a good team. It can only be some Lad who has to be exceptional go drag an average team to be better ?

By the way where did you hold your course on mc carthy's performance on all Ireland Sunday. It must have been tough to get classroom space. Would there be much of a demand for such courses.

Andy Moran was immense this year. He is the only real forward threat on that Mayo team and the reason they came through so many close games.

Im not saying that I was referring to the fact that gaz was saying he had a good year and he said he transitioned from half back to midfield with ease.
McCarthy isn't even the best midfielder in Dublin Fenton is better
As is Cavanagh,Parsons,and Moran
Breanan from Clare is also better.'
So how he was on for footballer of the year is beyond me
Prior to the All Ireland final it was between cluxton and Moran
with the bookies and McCarthy was no where in the running.
I don't fell one decent half of football makes you a footballer of the year.
O Callaghan was Dublins too performer.

If your trying to say Mayo are average I won't go no further with you

Good call out and admit that I should have phrased it better.

I think Cluxton should deffo have being the Goalkeeper selection and even Player of the Year.
His influence on the opposition's gameplan is immense even before a game starts and then during it.

For all the plaudits Cluxton gets I haven't seen him make any saves as good as some of the saves Clarke made this year. First and foremost a goalkeeper should be remembered for his saves not the accuracy of his kickouts!

Clarke is definitely the best shot stopper in the game but in Gaelic Football the role of a goalkeeper is so much more than that. The restarts and possession are so critical, particularly in the third quarter, and Cluxton (despite being capable of a meltdown moment here and there) is the master at it.

Moorefield with a sensational comeback to beat St Lomans!

6 points down on 57 minutes to come back and win by 1 with the last kick of the game!

Absolute bottle job from St Lomans, mind but fair play to Moorefield.

It was mental, fair play to them for keeping going because they were completely battered for the whole second half. Loman's were so much stronger for the 30 mins, self destructed then. Really should've closed the game out - slowed it down, fake an injury etc. Lost the momentum completely but once Moorefield got a sniff they drove it home. Sweeney was immense, some going for a 37 year old.

Wonder how many left the ground when the 60 minutes were up?! Imagine missing that LOL

I'd say there were a few Moorefield supporters gone to beat the traffic at that stage. In saying that they did similar against Portlaoise being 4 points down at the end but wom by 1 so maybe most hung on until the end.
I don't care who it is but when I see a team trying to close out a game by back passing or tip tapping around the corner flag I am delighted to see a team do what Moorefirld did yesterday. Few cynical fouls too that the ref punished. Lomans could be waiting a very long time to get as close again. sh*te christmas for that team.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

71,000 at the match. The second highest semi final attendance ever after cork v waterfords 72,000 last year. Hurling definitely going through a boom mainly thanks to kilkenny declining and other teams improving.

Meanwhile the football is crap and that's all down to Dublin dominating. The gaa made that mess themselves by investing way too much in the dubs. Lessons to be learned so hopefully they don't over fund Dublin in hurling over the next 20 or so years.

Yes that's exactly it and not some of the other CBs making a bollox of things .......

Dublin haven't won any of their recent AI's finals  by a huge margin generally only a point or two
