I've heard SFAI cups to run as normal, which means a 12 month season effectively for any DDSL clubs that have qualified for the last 32 Summer and winter football

An interesting article by an English coach focusing on youth development in Spain.
"Former Celtic and Scotland international John Collins was recently on the radio discussing winning. He described it as a barrier to the development of young players. Of course we should have a gameplan and methods of coaching, but should these not eventually lead to wanting to win? I have seen clubs and parents go as far as requesting that youth football results are not published to save the embarrassment and pain of the losing players. This mentality would harm our young players in the long run. Losing is part of the game and plays a huge factor of building our spirit. The most successful individuals and teams in all walks of life are so good because they once tasted the putrid, sickly pit of defeat and sacrificed everything to find a way of never tasting it again. Sport teaches us to be self-disciplined, motivated and organised, and when more than 99% of the young players we coach won’t ever play professionally, the least we can do is give them attributes to find abilities and strengths within their inner selves to adapt and evolve in order to be successful in the real world away from football that becomes more dog-eat-dog by the day. As football changes, one thing should never go away, and that is the competitive nature of the game that supplies upsets such as the plucky Leicester City winning the Premier League title or extra-time winners from Portugal’s Éder in the Euro 2016 final. By not developing winners, are we subconsciously encouraging losers?" Any thoughts on this from our resident coaches?

They're heading the right way not publishing results or tables for the younger age groups but lads 13/14+ don't want to be playing non-competitive football I don't think

Saw online there's a split brewing in the Newbridge Town club in Kildare. Apparently they want to pull all their teams from the KDUL and move them to the DDSL. A new club being formed for those that don't want to go

I heard that first hand 2 or 3 weeks ago from a committee member in my club (his young lad plays with Newbridge Town)
Brave move from Newbridge imo, they'll no longer be one of the big fishes in the pond if/when they move to the DDSL.
Interestingly enough a break away club called Newbridge United is being formed for those who don't want to play in Dublin, massive financial commitment to find sponsorship etc for all those new age groups and teams they will have to cater for.

How is it going to work though? Newbridge Town pull out of the KDUL midway through the season and go play in the DDSL summer league from next year & some players go to the new club to stay playing in the KDUL? Transfer deadline has passed, how do they transfer?

Did my final assessment for the C licence yesterday. I thought it went well, hopefully will have the result by next week.

whats the story for doing youth cert now, is it gone and you have to go UEFA D / C instead or what?
Doesnt seem to be a ladder anymore on the FAI coaching page which shows you the route
also seems to be fuk all up for 2017

If you have done the Youth Cert previously you have a year to do a 1 day conversion for the new National C Licence. From 2017, there will be a D licence (after your workshops), C licence then the UEFA B. I just done the C licence the weekend (bit more intense apparently then the Youth Cert) and I can see why they're bringing in another layer. There were lads on that course completely out of their depth. With the introduction of the new U15 National League, the expectation is that UEFA B will be a minimum for a Head Coach/Mgr of that team, St Pats already advertised as such. U17 UEFA B and u19 a UEFA A is what the good Dokter is looking at.

Yeah Youth Cert is extinct as of Jan 1st - as said previously if you have one - do a conversion course for a C licence. New D licence involves a coach completing 40 hours worth of grass roots courses PDP(Kick Start) 1-4 workshops etc and then a 1 day course to get on Licenced pathway. Im encouraged by this new pathway although it can be costly, we quality as well as a quantity of coaches in the country.

I've my youth cert, senior all the small sided games etc all done, so before I can apply for my Uefa B I have to do the conversion to the C licence so?
