Im not a teacher, so them dates are very prohibitive.

This country would drive you insane.
One due to be held in Cherry Orchard last week cancelled as they hadn't enough numbers. One scheduled for Tipp at the end of the month and one in Crumlin in November and that's it. If it was done right, there should be loads of affordable courses being run during the summer at various locations throughout the country. Make it so people can do them money-wise & location wise

True.

I looked at doing the A a few years ago and because it was all on weekdays I would have had to take about 15 days off work over a 12 month period to complete the course.

The course is 100% geared towards ex-players and us volunteer grass roots coaches are neglected and ignored. Funny how they can acoomodate Robbie Keane to fly in for a week and do his B AND his A at the same time.

The cost is the killer. €300 for the YC & €600 for the C Licence is too much. Wouldn't entice people into doing them, they have to make it more affordable and let the normal man be able to do it

Then you look at the FAI site for courses and there's only 2 Youth Certs on from now until the end of the year. If they had them more affordable they could be running full courses all over the summer before the season starts back up

In fairness there was a massive gap between what it takes to pass the youth cert and what it takes to pass the B licence.

And the likes of Salgado and Cudicini doing them here in Ireland is nothing but an effort from the FAI to give weight to their overpriced course.

HEard some absolute horror stories about the UEFA B in particular.

Who is coming to do their B License in Iceland with me? [L=D>]

True.

I know of coaches who cant get on the Pro Licence with the FAI because they are 'names' and/or they are not with pro clubs. You have to be interviewed beforehand to gauge your suitability. So you've done your B, done your A but might not be suitable for the Pro !!!

But Robbie Keane can do his B and A combined over a week but mere mortals have to wait two years.

'There are now 313 registered UEFA A licence holders with the FAI and 1,024 UEFA B Licence holders while the number of UEFA Pro Licence holders will be 65 when all participants on the current course reach graduation.'

Taken from the FAI website. Be interesting to see how many of these coaches are still coaching in Ireland.

Germany 530 euro
Spain 1,200 euro
That tweet on its own answers so many questions. Anyone know the Irish figure?
Cant remember the exact FAI figures ;

A - <200
B - >1000

Dont forget that these figures are distorted by the amount of foreign coaches who take the course in Ireland ie Michel Salgado recently.

A licence cost is approx €2500 plus about another €1500.
B licence cost is €1650 plus another €1000.
