All he needs to do is watch the video.

In fairness, I think there is all the elements for a belief. Particularly as he did make a connection with the ball and if you believed you were the last one to touch the ball, you could also look at the replays and be convinced that Keane whiffed the ball, which would leave his as the last connection. Look at it that way and a conviction you’ve long held would become more and more believable.
It’s also very possible that in the heat of the game it would move so fast that Keane’s touch would have totally and legitimately escaped his notice. On both counts, that’s unfortunate, especially as it is reasonable to believe his touch would have been sufficient for the ball to hit the net, but Keane’s touch is too obvious for me.

The fact he believes it despite all the video evidence to the contrary is baffling though. It's delusional.

Noel does believe he scored it though.
In terms of Stephen, can't say I was impressed about the whole Delaney thing and what he wrote. As for Noel, can see how he might not be everyone's cup of tea - But he is a generous type of bloke, not just with his money but with his time also. He's a small bit of a lad but no more so then most of us our on an away trip. |

This is what I think as well. Hunt should just be glad he has 3 Ireland caps, a very mediocre player. |

I could understand where hes coming from in the sense that he only got 3 ireland caps, so getting that goal would be massive/highlight of his career, and i do think he really believed he scored it at the time. But as has been posted, evidence clearly shows otherwise, bad look trying to be a martyr about it imo

The speed of the ball would speak to it being Keane’s goal. If you slow down the goal it would take a major trick of the eye to miss Keane’s strike on the ball.

The Hunt brothers just seem like pains in the arse. Stephen Hunt praising JD in the midst of the crisis. Noel Hunt still moaning about something that doesn't matter and shows a selfish side. |

It's funny how much it rankles with him; if he'd drop the indignation for a minute and actually rewatch it properly it'd be obvious that Robbie did score it. Hunt's logic seems to boil down to "Robbie got loads anyway, can't he just give me that one?"

Hunt still moaning over the goal https://www.offtheball.com/football/robbie-keane-noel-hunt-italy-992549 The links to the 'Rté exclusive angle' are now dead - you hardly still have it saved all this time later?

Ach sure there'd be no debate then would there, might as well start a thread which says 'Gomes definately got a touch on Carrick's ball'! |
