Too many places doing “grills” now rather than fry ups.
Had a cracking fry in Del Rios on Marlborough St last week. Place doubles up as a chipper so the big breakfast with chips White pudding was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Eggs runny. Decent sausages and rashers Best I’ve had in years

There should be no beans or mushrooms on any plate involving a fry.

Kearns sausages as already mentioned are terrific. Makes a big difference in picking the best products for each ingredient type.
I think some form of spud is important. Hash brown, boxty, farls or sauteed spuds. |

Would probably vote sausage myself but Boxty deserves an honourable mention

Would have 2 pouched egg most mornings as my breakfast. Handy as: (A): Doesn't leave a mess like scrambled egg does on the pots (and I dislike mircro wave scrambled). (B): Healthier than fried egg and less hassle. (C): You can just throw them in the pan of warm water and leave them there and come back to them in 5 minutes and ready to go. Add a little bit of salt and a slice of white or black pudding.

Not really a fry without the sausage but white and black pudding up there with it for me.
2 sausages, 2 white pudding, 2 black pudding, 2 fried egg.

In reply to the original question, a fry up is not a fry up wothout a number of the items listed IMO. Sausage, rashers, white pudding and fried or poached egg (if im on a health buzz) are crucial. |

Big fan of the Ulster Fry, would have be to be Potato Bread and Soda Farl. I also think sausage is more important than bacon
