Bunch of cucks on here! If England called him up next window that would end the debate! England is his first choice and we’re clearly a back up plan.

If they gave a sh*t about playing for the country they wouldn't f**k us around like some do. This desperation from some section of fans who want Ireland to be the side piece of an ungrateful player for a better shot at silverware is beyond me. No pride and no shame it seems from ye.

So are saying Kilbane, Breen, Grealish, Aldridge,’Lawrenson , Houghton, Stephen Reid, Chris Hughton, Seamus McDonagh and many many more should not have been allowed play for Ireland.

Just the Granny rulers. Kilbane's parents were Irish and he always wanted to play for Ireland for example.

Ok tell me how you would like to codify these rules.  It’s only if you parents were born in the country can you play for that country.   Aiden McGeady grandparents were from Donegal and played with Ireland since he 15.  Whereas Jamie O Hara’s Dad was born in Magherafelt.  Also a person is entitled to an Irish passport if their grandparents are born in Ireland.  So you would have Irish citizens who can’t play for Ireland under your rule.

Cannon leading us on to see if he can get an England call up and than default back to Ireland when that dream is over is embarrassing.

To who exactly? Literally no one gives a f*ck about whether Cannon plays for Ireland or not bar a small set of Ireland fans. It's utterly irrelevant to 99% of the footballing world - your embarrassment is entirely self generated.

We have been mocked many times for being England's B team and the joke about FAI - Find another Irishman.

Our inability to produce our own players and our reliance on other countries to produce players for us - when their dream of playing for England or whoever is over.

Cannon should make his decision soon or an ultimatum should be put to him. Now or never.

The FAI should employ a man to 'persuade' these lads to declare for The EIRE.

Boo hoo like, why are you worried about the odd English Knuckle dragger throwing stones online? Are you going to start wearing fake tan because we get sl*gged for being pale too?  It's pathetic that you'd give that much headspace to anonymous eeijits doing a bit of sl*gging

I would rather we produce our own players and not rely on England players who are unable to fulfil their dreams and pick us to further their own careers.

Josh Cullen,Robinson or the odd granny ruler playing for us is not the main reason we are mocked for being the English B team if that’s what your concerned about!

99.9% ain’t aware and couldn’t care less!

100% agree with this. No harm though in also picking players who want to play for us and are eligible.  We should never prostitute ourselves and come across as pathetic either.

Technically incorrect on Duffy, as his father was from Donegal.

Surely they qualify by virtue of the fact that they are simply Irish? No need to consider birth place of their parents?

My point is that Duffy still would have qualified to play irrespective of whether he was born in the north and qualified through that route.

It was actually much publicised at the time, as the then NI manager complained of post GFA players qualifying through to play for Ireland, even though the GFA was never a factor as anyone born on the island was always entitled to play prior to that (e.g. Kernaghan). Furthermore, his comments were proven to be beyond ignorant when it was also highlighted that Duffy's father was from Donegal.

Sorry, Kernaghan wasn't actually born on the island. His parents were, and he grew up in NI.

Times have changed since Jack’s day when players born outside Ireland comprised most of the team. That now applies to NI though.
