Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbing said the United States is profiting from the war in Ukraine.

According to him, the American military-industrial complex earned a lot of money from the Ukrainian conflict.

"Will they be ashamed of this? The United States adhered to the policy of fighting to the last Afghan. Do they really want Ukraine to fight to the last Ukrainian now?" the diplomat said.

Assistance to Ukraine is costing the Americans something in the region of 3 to 4% of their annual defense budget. When you consider it has virtually destroyed a large proportion of the russian military (estimates of north of 50% of their tank fleet has gone up in smoke) which is one of two of Americas biggest adversaries then the return on investment seems pretty much worth it from an American perspective.

The Chinese would be taking a massive risk in supplying the Russians with armaments it needs. It's not at all certain they'll take that risk. Lots of talk and mind games going on.

50%?

Please provide a verification .

Last year when you said Zelensky would be removed in an internal coup by Christmas, did you mean Christmas 2023?

I said  coup was not an unlikely occurance.

His support in Ukraine and amongst military in UA is certainly waning.

Find the post where I said he would be removed by Christmas.

Otherwise, Retract your post.

Doesn’t make me wonder. Lest we forget that Putin invaded a sovereign nation, in breach of international law. Naturally this would cause a surge in defence spending, especially in places that are providing support. There would be now increase if Putin hadn’t invaded. Any other outcomes can be traced back to Putin invading.

Exactly. Keeping it nice and simple. The Russian sympathisers always over complicate what's happening here with their wishy-washy arguments.

I’m by no means a Russian sympathiser. As a matter of fact I’ve no time for putin or indeed any Russians I’ve met. The question is. What happens when BAE and their likes profits aren’t enough.

The West, NATO, or big business didn’t make Putin invade. Simple as that.

The West, NATO, or big business didn’t make Putin invade. Simple as that.

The Cuban missile crisis was a crisis as Russian missiles in Cuba represented a huge threat to USA

Alas, the ever eastward expansion of NATO represents a huge threat to Russia

Ukraine are being used as fodder to bleed Russia and continue the profits of the military industrial complex.

There has no desire on the West for any form of peace.

They didn't suddenly invade. That is BS.
The treatment of Russians in E Ukraine has been disgraceful for many years

Look at previous election results in Ukraine. There is a very clear East West divide.

Eh, no. This ‘provocation’ point is total nonsense. This is about restoring a lost empire and Putin’s rhetoric makes that abundantly clear.

And Russia wants peace? Presumably once they have redrawn the map through hostile military action, neutered Ukraine and forced decisions upon it which are at odds with its sovereignty as a nation? Russia is the aggressor here. Putin’s speech on Tuesday was jingoistic in the extreme, using tropes about the West to maintain his righteousness.

Not in the slightest. Not least because Russia has form here in Georgia and Moldova. They’d have reason to turn their heads to Belarus for geographical and strategic reasons, only they have soft power there via Lukshenko.
