Has to start both games for me.  Kenny likes to get the ball wide early, hopefully with someone with a bit of height and mobility upfront we can get balls into him high and low.  He's hitting all the right marks, so it is hard not be be excited.  Forming a partnership with someone could be the key to our success for years to come.

It will be interesting to see how deep Ferguson has to drop to influence the play or alternatively he may just look an isolated figure up top. Latvia are 133rd in the world, you would think we should win and win well, the system we play though hasn’t shown that to be the case against lesser sides.

To be fair, the system not working against the lower ranked sides has been owing to not being able to break them down when they defend deep. Hopefully Ferguson can be the answer to that. The fact that he can operate as a proper target man as well as being technically very good is exactly what we've been crying out for. Himself and obafemi could work brilliantly

Main problem being the feeding him bit, a midfield of Cullen, Molumby and Knight is not going to be creating a whole lot. We still badly need to find a solution in there.

Would like to see Smallbone play that role tonight to see can he link the midfield with the forward line.

100% and that is what we should try later for sure.
No need for Cullen later either.  Give the lad a rest and see who can slot in there, but more creativity in the middle is needed versus these weaker sides.

Could have Haaland up top but if all our mids are doing is sideways and backwards stat-padding passes (looking at you, Jeffrey), then won't do us much good.

Jeff Hendrick attempts the most forward passes of our midfielders. Cullen a close 2nd. - https://www.squawka.com/en/comparison-matrix/?compare=qriC8JNYUBjXdsX4-erCd

State of Molumby.. he's the real offender for sideways and backwards passes.

Sssssshhhh! Did you not get the memo, our woes over the last 10 years are all down to Jazzy Jeff!

Easy scapegoat.

I would have been more critical of Hendrick than most due to the fact he is the best CM we have produced (Rice aside) since McCarthy broke through and hasn’t played or acted like it.

Don’t think he has fulfilled his potential or kicked on at all since 2016.

I'm actually in disbelief that 86% of Molumby's attempted passes are sideways or backwards.

In fairness to Molumby that's not really what he's in the team for, he's there to hassle and chase when we don't have the ball, and ideally give it to a better passer as soon as he wins it back.

He will be badly needed Monday night. Praying he doesn’t get an early booking and we have a ref that leaves his cards in the changing room.

This is my primary concern with him also. Tbf he has done well this season at West Brom to stay in and around the starting XI and his game seems to have come on a bit, but if he gets booked early, I hope we have a Plan B in mind, I couldnt have him on the pitch on a yellow.

Kenny will change tactics to suit Ferg. The hoof it up to the big man is back
It would damage this forums' reputation
