3 at the back doesn't work when you play the likes of Coleman and Brady as your wingbacks. Sleepy

We build our team around the 3 at the back, this is why we're failing. Time to branch into a more conservative formation. 4-2-3-1 would suit our players down to the ground and allow Sammie to play in his best position.

Fully agree

We should play our centre backs as full backs in my view like Man City and let our wide players carry the threat and our 4 defenders defend and come narrow if they have to.

I would have a back four of OShea Scales Collins Omabamidele. And try O Brien there too if scales is out.  Protect it with Cullen and Molumby/Smallbone and have a front four of Johnston Szmodics Ogbene and Ferguson against weaker sides and against
Good team drop Johnston for Knight.

Yes I was thinking this too. We've 4 or 5 good centre backs but no good left back, so one could play there.
I also think Ogbene is better in the attacking third of the field and not as good in the wing back role.

City have very technical and mobile CBs playing at FB. And it's mainly a back three anyway. It depends on the phase of play.

They also have Rodri and Stones/Kovacic receiving the ball from the defence compared to Cullen/Smallbone/Molumby.

Ake and Akanji can cover large spaces and are duel specialists.

You can say that about every formation that there is a team out
There that’s better than us playing it.  It doesn’t mean we have to copy city’s style.

We don’t have the players that Ajax had at
Their prime or Contes Italy or Chelsea but are playing 3 4 3

Our full backs are crap and our centre backs are good.  Play 4 centre backs 2 who are very mobile and keep it tight at the back.  Allows you to get the attacking players on In front 4.

No need to reference City initially then?

You can also kept it tight at the back with three centre backs and two wing backs. A back five when defending.

I'm not a fan of O'Shea playing at LB long term. Scales probably doesn't have the pace to play there long term. O'Shea has the necessary athleticism, but it's difficult playing out of position on your weaker side.

Omobamdiele could be a good RB option in a flat back four. He's got the athletic ability combined with a good technical level.

Are Celtic really going to get into a transfer battle for a lad who'll likely have no resale value given his age.

No. He's been capped by Ireland so Celtic are linked, its standard.
Same way they're signing Kelleher in the summer apparently

Yes because picking up an experienced player on a free transfer is the same as spending possibly ten million on one. What they'd spend on Szmodics they'd probably buy a couple of youngsters with resale value instead.

He may not always love Eire
But long as there are shots going past Bazunu
You never need to doubt it
He'll make you so sure about it
Szmod only knows what we'd be without you
If you should ever join Burnley
And Atletico Madrid go back in for Doherty
Nathan Collins is better than Ben Mee
Why won't O'Shea play Ogbene
Szmod only knows what we'd be without you

We have to be playing him centrally as opposed to having him scraping for bit and pieces out on the wing. Simple

I need to be myself
I can be be noone else
I'm feeling Supersonic
Gimme Sammie Szmodics
He knows a team called EIRE
They're into total failure
He can have it all but how much doea he want it
His haircut makes me laugh
I got his autograph
He pulled out coz the doctor
Said he needs a helicopter
If he doesnt score in green
He'll be on a yellow submarine
We need to find a way for how he wants to play but before tomorrow
Or John Eustace will take him home
Sit him in a corner all alone
He'll tell him EIRE means f**k all
And nobody will see him
Nobody will ever hear him call
