While he is certainly no savior, his style of play offers something different from our other players. As a manager, shouldn't Kenny want such a player available should the circumstances call for it?

He probably feels about as Irish as Ray Houghton, Tommy Cascarino, John Aldridge, Tony Galvin, Mark Lawrenson, Tony Grealish, Declan Rice, Patrick Bamford, Will Keane, Scott Hogan, Ciaran Clark, Sinead Farrelly, Marissa Sheva et al.

If they qualify, if they're willing and if they're good enough - they're Irish enough.

Kenny has finally called him up now that Connolly is ruled out with an injury.

Tbf Szmodics is the top scorer in the Championship with 7 and has the most goal involvements, 9 after 11 matches. He deserves the call up and arguably should have been in the squad ahead of either Johnston or Robinson, who are both working their way back to full fitness, in the first place

Just seen that.

Pity about Connolly dropping out with injury tho. Gven the form Szmodics is in of late he is defo worth a call up for a look and should have really been in the original squad but he is in now.

Also I think it is good to keep expanding our squad especially with the injury record of nearly all of our attackers. Robinson, Johnston, Ferguson, Connolly, Obafemi, Idah, Keane etc are all a bit prone to injuries.
