And the WU17s just drew 1-1 with Slovakia in their qualifier.

Disappointing scoreline. Sounds like 3-1 was a flattering scoreline again

While this was always going to be a tough game, I think this group are overrated by Irish supporters to be honest. Needlessly hyped up by the click bait sites this week as well. There's a couple of potential top level pros in there, but overall the 2003s are a level below the 2002s and the earlier years going back to 1999.

Was at this match. Nice stadium. Few Irish supporters. England were the stronger team throughout although reland had their spells but it should have being 2-2 @half time when Kenny hit the posts.
Referee was extremely bias towards England and the the foul on Kenny was a definite red for the goalie. Ref gave nothing. He even showed macnulty a red thinking he had already issued a yellow earlier. Hope Sinclair is ok as he had a nasty collision with the side boards. Stand out playes were Adaramola. Up and down the pitch from start to finish Very similar to ebolese . Cian Hayes although a bit on the small size is a good little player. Lawel was decent as was o Neill and Abankwah. UP against it on Saturday v Portugal.

What formation did we play?
Was it 3-at-the-back with Adamarola and Abankwah as wing-backs? Interesting if so to see a youth-team adopt the senior formation.

Portugal win 4-1 with late goals on 84', 92' & 95'. Those 3 goals coming from subs, of which Portugal made 5. Irelands depleted bench goes against them only making 1 sub, & so I'm guessing they ran out of steam before the end. EDIT: Highlights of the previous game vs England here:

4-0 win. Not unexpected against the opposition but we needed some good results hasn't been a good int window for the 17s and 19s.

Very poor week for the U17 and U19 teams. Such a pity as there was a lot of positivity around these two particular age groups. Yes they were in tough groups but results haven't been great.

Seeing how far McClean strayed offside last night nearly made me keep over and this tweet did likewise in relation to the 19s and 17s. The 19s were up against it but results as you say really poor. The 17s you can't make any excuse a really promising crop of players it was a mess to be frank. The pattern of goals conceded (goal 2-0 down early in 2 games as well as collapsing late on in another game) doesn't reflect great on the coaching either. It happened a bit in the last qualfiying round too (2-0 down early to Poland and conceded 2 late goals to poor opposition we hung on for 3-2).

19s had tough games and were in both of them until pretty late. Also they hammered the weak team in their group. 17s were so poor - the better side pretty clearly against Finland and threw it away - Finland get 9 stuffed past them a few days later. I wasn’t impressed with Zefi, incredibly skilful but poor decision making - take him out of a team with his peers and into adult football and hopefully that gets drilled out of him. Some really poor defending across the games too but luckily we are well stocked in that department. First u17 finals without us in them since 2016…

Looks like a few step ups from the 17s.. would of thought we would see Rocco Vata though.
Nathan Fraser an interesting one for me as a Wolves fan. Didn't realize he had irish links but had a cracking season for the Wolves u18s. Proper no9 with stature, decent pace, skill and of course goals. He's only just 17 (a few months ago) I believe and I think will play u23 football next year as some of our attacking starters probably senior loan ready.
