Why would anyone have wanted Luxembourg to win tonight?
We're in enough danger of losing out on 3rd place so we need Serbia and Portugal to take maximum points off them which may see us not having to win in Luxembourg in November. Even if Serbia dropped points today, we wouldn't be good enough to take advantage anyway.

Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

I'd still quite like us to finish top and I don't see Luxembourg winning every game so it would've been handy if they'd taken some points. Not to be however there's no difference in finishing 3rd or 5th really bar a bit of embarrassment

Stephen Kenny said it before the match. He was surprised how good their results were so definitely didn't take them for granted.

If you look at Luxembourg in the Euro 2020 qualifier, they came 4th in a group won by Ukraine and also had Portugal and Serbia.
Ukraine only beat them 1-0 at home and 2-1 away (93 min winner). Serbia beat them 3-2 H and 3-1 A Portugal beat them 3-0 and 2-0 They beat and drew with bottom team Lithuania. We would come 4th on that group too.

Is anyone confident of a result v Azerbaijan. I can’t see us winning in Baku, and I struggle to see us scoring at all currently in Dublin. Portugal beat them thanks to an OG, and Serbia conceded v them.
We’re currently in a race for the wooden spoon.

They are letting 50% into the ground in Baku including away supporters so hopefully similar in October but a long way away yet.
