I’m not sure you could expect McGeady to play at that kind of level having been down in League 1 for so long. I would call up as a bench option though. Otherwise it’s a good team- I’d probably go Hendrick ahead of Knight as you did but he must be running out of chances now. I’d go Robinson Connolly long across the front 3- plenty of pace to chase down lost causes

I wouldn't be surprised to see Marcus Harness included in the squad this time around. Also despite goal two recent goals I wouldn't be surprised if Shane Long was ommited either we seem to have a knack of having very stubborn managers.

Robinson hasn't started a game in a month so putting as a starter in our team seems to be based on wishful thinking.
But then our alternatives are down the leagues unless we play Brady there? As for McGeady, I'll eat my hat if he were to start.

Given the players who are missing, we’ll need to keep some experience in the XI, even though I think Duffy is a liability at the moment. I’m also assuming Brady will be fit (is he ever?) Randolph Coleman Duffy O’Shea Stevens Hourihane Hendrick Brady O’Dowda Long Connolly What I’d play if this was Champ Manager Kelleher Coleman O’Shea Clark Stevens Knight Cullen Brady O’Dowda Long Connolly |

Think Brady will be out Could move Connolly to the left Long up front but for me if you have a front three of long Connolly and Robinson their too alike. Mcgeady brings something else thus the balance but I can see Mcgeady not being to it good sub option

Loan spell) -- 7 Sub App. (inc. loan spell) - 2 GOALS - Currently Fit Curtis -- Started 14 -- 2 Sub App. -- 4 GOALS - Currently Fit The above are just black and white stats that don't factor in the poor form that most of players are currently in. Also not factoring in the leagues players play in, etc. Fact is, the higher up the leagues you go, the worse the stats are. Anyway some more stats to dip you further into a depression... Total Club Goals scored since last International break in November: Defenders: 3 GOALS Midfielders: 16 GOALS Attackers: 16 GOALS -- Excluding, Shane Long, the last 8 forwards called up have a combination of 4 international goals between them. -- Shane Long hasn't scored an international goal since 2016. Of those 9 forwards, Shane Long is the only one who scored in a competitive international, back in 2016...his last international goal. Not that it needs to be written down, but when you do, the depth of how bad things are, and the job that Kenny has on his hands, is unreal.

Kelleher
Doherty Duffy O’Shea Stevens Cullen Hendrick Knight Coleman Robinson Connolly This is how I’d go. Plenty energy and workrate in there. I think you have to make the case for Coleman even before Liverpool but more so afterwards. He actually showed a bit of attacking ability too that ball to Richarlson was brilliant. Always a good attacking RB so not a shock is it. I think he’s better at RM then Doherty and would link up with Doherty well along with providing him protection. The midfield is very simple workers/workhorses. We will need that and the 3 in there including poor Hendrick who I slate gets through plenty dirty work. Goalkeeper is my other controversial one but you have to play Kelleher. The way we are trying to play he’s tailor made for it. It’s the reason why Klopp loves him/rates him so highly. Gutted for Kelleher he missed Sunday and potentially Thursday as it would have almost made the argument redundant in my eyes. Just typical of our luck at the moment too Irish players just seem cursed everything going wrong at vital moments. Defence it’s very simple Duffy is going to play now with Egan injured. I’d pick Clark/O’Shea myself both playing well but Duffy will play for sure. O’Shea my pick to go in with him. Connolly on the left I think is safe. Provides a threat and Robinson has done well for West Brom up front that he’s worth a shot. If Mcgoldrick comes back then he’d play. Not a million to one he will come back actually I wouldn’t give up on that yet. Edited by kevin100 - 01 Mar 2021 at 2:18pm |

If anyone saw Brady's last appeance for Burnley you wouldn't leave him near a football pitch, however if and a big if at that in my opinion he would only see game time v Qatar. Also going through this thread you'd hardly think Alan Browne was a current Republic of Ireland international while I don't think he's the answer to all our problems he's definitely ahead of Molumby in the current order. The Qatar game is actually a good game for us to have in regards giving an opportunity to our second choice goalkeeper etc..

It seems Robbie is not too far off game time , may just miss Burnley's Wednesday game but should be ready for Saturdays . Hey that's my take on it .

A lot will depend on what he does in that game time so I'd imagine.

That is utterly depressing. If we come second in this group Kenny should be given the keys to the city

I like the idea of playing Coleman or Doherty as one of the three up front. I think if both are fit you have to try and accommodate them both on the right. It could be a weapon for them to alternate.
