Think the game really got away from us in the second half, we just couldn't control the midfield until Cullen came on.
As a West ham supporter I've followed his carrier and never seen him play a bad game and don't get why he is so over looked to the point he's a back up player in the Belgium league. Think knight could he a good player just needs to be more controlled and not do everything at 100 miles an hour. The number 10 position is a bigger problem than ever now, Brady got me excited in the first half against Wales but was abysmal tonight. I think we are no clearer to getting a clearer picture of our best 11 under kenny than we were 8 games ago, this is due to mostly to constant change of personell but at least we know who's not good enough now, Hourihan is top of that list for me.

Tonight was poor, but we were generally on top, created the better chances, and were unlucky not to sneak a win. We can forget that a number of players on show tonight wouldn't be in the squad but for injuries, suspension and Covid. And others have been called up, incrementally, since the first squad was picked a few weeks back to cover for the ongoing injuries.
Our strikers who started tonight have spent the vast majority of their careers in the third tier of English football. Horgan has his moments, and I do like his style, but its limited. Manning has been knocking around the Championship, making roughly 100 appearances. But apart from a couple of squad call-ups, both MON and MM passed, and SK didn't race to have him in the squad, tonight doesn't suggest they were wrong. Also, unlike having players like Coleman, McGoldrick, Egan, Stevens, or even McClean in the team as our "stalwarts", we had Duffy whose confidence is at a low ebb. We have Hourihane who now consistently warms the bench for Villa, and we had Brady, who has not even come close to hitting the heights we thought he might after Euro 2016 (injury has undoubtedly influenced that). Christie and Maguire off the bench, same faces. In combination, we had an inexperienced, weak team, which lacked in confidence, and it did reasonably well. But unless we lose 13 first teasers again, and our clutch of young lads make no progress this term, you won't see a team light tonight's again.

Hard enough to watch that interview
Agree with Sid, what’s he like talking to the team if that’s him on camera

If our players are generally judged by the tier system in England. It's fair to say we're currently a middling Championship team. Apply that same tier level to our manager..... What's he? Plenty of a Championship clubs would offer contracts to our players. What Championship club would offer Kenny a contract? What League 1 club would come in for him? He's a League 2 level manager. That's his level. It's like getting a League 2 striker and expecting him to score at international level. |

You don't like Kenny and don't think he is up to it. We all get it.

As somebody who talks in a not too dissimilar accent, pronunciation etc. to Kenny, ie. a west Dublin housing estate accent, I generally can't take managers who speak with that sort of a Dublin accent seriously
Like, he pronounces Jason Knight as "Nigh", Troy Parrott as "Parreh" and Adam Idah as "Eye-dah" - Idah has even tweeted the correct pronunciation of his own name for clarity For somebody with a strong accent, like myself, you generally know for professional purposes to tone it down a little, I mean you don't have to change your accent very much, but you just make sure to pronounce things correctly and speak in grammatically correct language No successful Dublin GAA manager has had that sort of an accent either, I mean they have had Dublin accents but there's a difference between say, a Kevin Heffernan or Pat Gilroy accent - or probably more to the point, manner of speaking, as Heffernan and Gilroy both had old school Dublin accents - and how Kenny speaks I can't take managers who speak in broad Cockney seriously either I'd have similar enough concerns about how Dessie Farrell projects himself, he's a like a mortuary slab in human form Edited by sid waddell - 19 Nov 2020 at 12:07am |

Lads, no one knows if Kenny will be a success or failure. The odds on failure have shortened undoubtedly due to his first 8 games but in fairness they have been played in freakish circumstances with some equally freakish bad luck. And yet if (and its a big if) the Parrot, Idah, Connolly , O Shea, etc generation turn out to be a great crop, their enforced game time over the last 7 games may prove a huge blessing.
In that interview Kenny appears what he is, very tired and incredulous. Work is strange for us all this weather but what Kenny has to deal with...f**k me. On a personal level, he could do with the upcoming break. Alas whether he succeeds or not ultimately probably has little enough to do with him. Its largely down to our u21 generation. If they get game time (and goals) between now and March it suggests they are on the road to fulfilling their potential. If they don't then it probably signifies they aren't as good as we hoped.

There are some people on here who have an issue with the fact he doesn't have an English accent. He was measured in what he said and summed the last 3 months up fairly. - Unprecidented Squad disruption - Posotives were blooding young players - We can play better - He accepts we have to start winning games ASAP

That is a ridiculously elitist thing to say. Why would anyone change or tone down their accent in professional settingsm I' m also from Tallaght and speak in vernacular terms similar to Kenny, I dont think that's ever heald me back professionally, and I work in an industry that is traditionally full of old boys/South Dublin Rugby types. |

The first half was genuinely the worst half of a game that I can remember seeing. I wonder if Kenny rates where you're playing over how you're playing. For me our best central midfielders for his style are Cullen, Byrne and either Hendrick or Browne. They all want it and look relatively comfortable with it. I thought Knight was okay. Would love to see a 5-3-2 with Parrott and Connolly up front at some point with Byrne, Cullen and either Brady, Hendrick or Browne behind. We knew it wasn't going to be easy, let's give it some more time.

That interview didn't bother me in the slightest and I honestly couldn't care less about interviews. The notion that he speaks in the same way in the dressing room is ludicrous ffs.
Jim Gavin never did one interesting or gripping interview. I never once assumed that's how he spoke to his players in the dressing room. Didn't seem to affect him too much |

who gives a sh1t about his accent or how his interviews are perceived, stupid things to mention. He'll be judged on performances and results and while the last few months have been bitterly disappointing, I don't think any genuine analysis of his time in the job so far can be made given the unprecedented disruptions he seen with Covid, injury etc.
