Watched the Brazil 2002 documentary last night, was clear to see why they won, what a team
Cafu,Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho,Rivaldo, Ronaldo the names just roll off the tongue. They seemed to have great camaraderie within the group and seemed to have the common goal of wanting to banish the demons of 98

Thats one of my favourites. This one with Warnock is good too. Must have been a nightmare being the linesman with him

FIFA launched their own free steaming service 'FIFA+'. They've a couple good documentaries and classic full matches up there already. They're aiming to have every single World Cup game that was ever televised available in full by the end of the year / before the 2022 WC kicks off. So far they've added Ireland Vs Germany and Spain in 2002. They've that Keane & Viera doc up too that was on tele a few years ago.

BBC Scotland showed a documentary on the life of Walter Smith on Hogmanay. Well made, funny, plenty of tributes from rivals and a wee bit emotional at the end. |

Yep as said probably clever editing to make it seem better than it was, but definitely Dutch game could have gone another way had Koeman been sent off.. And agree there was definitely some odd selections in there as you said Beardsley and Waddle for example OK they were mid 33-35ish but both were still playing in PL and performing well

England were really bad in that group. While Taylor was a really nice man he had England playing woeful stuff and dropped good players like Waddle, Beardsley etc and played duds like Carlton Palmer, Andy Sinton etc.. The football was aimless hoofball. I remember watching their defeat to USA in Boston in 1993. It wa sa 'shock' but it was coming and I wasn't shocked at the time when they lost. They were really ragball rovers at this stage. They actually played well in Rotterdam and were robbed in fairness. Yeah Seaman's positioning was attrocious. This thing where ''the walls job is to protect one side of the goal and the keepers job is to protect the other side'' is a load of rubbish imo

Watched impossible job tonight, Tbf now not sure if it was just editing but England were pretty unlucky not to qualify.
The Dutch game for example they missed a few chances, obviously Koeman should have been sent off. I'll also say what was Seaman playing with his positioning for Koemans free

No idea. Thought it was a bid random myself. "CARLTON, CARLTON! Can we not knock it"

How come? Bit random. His team talks weren't the most inspiring. ''What we have to do now is go to Norway and if at all possible win that game''.

“I know it might be overly-simplistic, but my main issue is that you have the people who kicked off the trouble in Europe, twice – ergo the Germans – and we gave them a slap, twice, yet they seem to have conquered us economically and to be dictating policy” |
