Just goes to show this omicron is ridiculously contagious. Football clubs have done remarkably well keepng covid out to date. Looks like this may change.

We can but try. Far from being a new problem, on-field cardiac arrest was already common enough in football by January 2014 for Fifa to set up the Sudden Death Registry that month to log its incidence worldwide. A study published last December in the British Journal of Sports Medicine combined information from that Fifa registry with data from media monitoring for the years 2014-18. They found 475 instances of football- related sudden cardiac death across 67 countries, with a further 142 cases where a player suffered a cardiac arrest but survived. In November, AFP asked the lead author of that study, Dr Florian Egger, to comment on Facebook reports of a surge in cardiac problems among players since the introduction of the Covid vaccines. Referring to the data he and his team had collected, he pointed out that even if the Facebook allegations about the number of incidents this year were to be accepted at face value, and the tally of cases extrapolated to cover the entire year of 2021: "there would still be fewer heart emergencies in football than in the pre-Corona year of 2018. The claim that this dynamic exists cannot be derived from our data or other international registry studies. There are no more deaths among footballers than before the Covid-19 pandemic." Ya that’s 4 in the last 20 or so years, when Fabrice Muamba collapsed it was on the news 24/7 for weeks. It’s happening so often this year that we hardly hear about certain cases like John Fleck or Piotr Zielinski. Sergio Agueros retirement also seemed to get swept under the media carpet considering he’s one of the premier leagues all time greats. Trevor Sinclair mentioned it on talk sport a few weeks back on they cut him off air straight away, very strange times

Daley Blind last year! Christian Eriksen was also unvaccinated in the summer! Lads love looking for a conspiracy.

Not sure who else you may be referring to but a high profile one is Eriksen who had not been vaccinated at the time of his incident, neither was Wyke at Wigan when he collapsed recently.
Its easy for conspiracy theorists to blame the vaccine but its just a coincidence these incidences are happening now. A real fact that should worry the unvaccinated is that a study in the UK found that 18% of covid patients in UK hospitals have developed issues with their heart. Covid aside for a moment as there is both a mix a vaccinated and unvaccinated players that have been falling ill, collapsing with breathing / heart problems.. I would be really interested to know if there was any major changes to anti doping regulations this year or any new performance enhancing drugs on the scene? We all know its rampant in football both with illegal drugs / supplements and approved ones. Players take injections and handfuls of tablets all the time without ever really knowing whats in them. Whenever you read an information leaflet that comes with a bog standard pack of painkillers the list of side effects is the length of your arm with particular warning towards prolonged use. Think back to the 70s/80s/90s with Wrestling or Bodybuilding and how many of them f**kers died young or suffered serve health issues from all the sh*te they were peddling. Again. There are no more deaths among
footballers than before the Covid-19 pandemic." The deaths or incidences are just of a slightly higher profile, as opposed to being a higher incidence rate
