Not just down to those unvaccinated being in hospital though, it's the overall number in hospital, vaccinated or unvaccinated that's the problem. That number keeps on going up, we dont have the capacity to care for them

Bars, clubs and restaurants to close by 12pm.

Push to work from home again.

Probably more restrictions to be brought in.

The vaccines haven't been the success story that everyone hoped. 93% jabbed and we are re-imposing restrictions. Really is a sad day and there really looks to be no end in sight. Can't see near as many people getting the booster. Bar those that are at risk you'd really be thinking what's the point as I can still pass it on anyway.

Pubs and clubs the easy option again despite them not being the major drivers of numbers is depressing. I disagreed with people saying that there was anti drink lobby in our decision making but the treatment of the sector this last 2 years makes it hard to argue.

Our health service getting worse and worse every year and the public being blamed for it for being out socialising. It was crumbling before covid with the numbers waiting on trolleys growing by the year and it's obviously getting worse. We pay so much money for the health system, more than most developed countries per head and yet it's a shambles. Instead of there being proper questions asked about this and genuine reform, we get the head of the HSE on mad money telling us that antigen tests were snake oil while they could have been used to stop the spread like anywhere else. Can't see there not being a partial lockdown in the leadup to xmas but it's like pissing into the wind at this stage

Wasnt the head of the HSE that talked of snake oil but the fella who told us a couple of weeks ago we have almost suppressed covid. We were told a while back that an increase in hospital/icu was expected up to 800/150 as we opened up followed by a tail off towards the end of November. This was anticipated, so why the panic all of a sudden..

Lets be honest.

The vaccine has been very disappointing.

The numbers are worse now with 90+% vaccinated than they were last year

without the vaccines the unvaccinated wouldn’t be able to go to the pub and we’d still be living in lockdown and all education remote. The unvaccinated outnumber proportionally the vaccinated in ICU so no the vaccines haven’t been disappointing. ICU being the place to stop you from death.

ITs all a big disaster. There nearly has to be another lockdown for Xmas, as hard as it is to say that. The big worry is the people that are having their surgeries and treatments postponed because there are no ICU beds to put them in to in case they need ICU treatment.

Friends nephew needs investigatory surgery cause they think its cancerous but it has been postponed couple of times because there is no ICU beds available in case he needs it after surgery.

If the public knew 6 months ago that we would be facing a lockdown despite 93% vaccination rate, would that have been  considered successful?

The vaccine has been staggeringly disappointing. It was sold as our ticket to normality.

Unfortuately we kknew we were going back to lockdowns when the hospitals started struggling. All the other numbers going up were acceptable, nurses and doctors having to work 16 hour shifts every day isn't (rightly)

Numbers as bad now as when we had no vaccine. They are obviously not the only answer  but we can't live like this forever.

97% of people in ICU have underlying condition. Its those we need to protect and create extra beds for.

My opinion is we should have dedicated covid/flu hospitals. Take them out of the general hospitals as much as possible .
