Definitely anti-cyclist and lower excise duty on pints.

I’ll never wake you up in time for a match again!

RTE analysing tonight’s debate as Leo holding his hand up, with Martin failing to hit significant blows.

Ah stop, it was boring as hell. Leo try to whitewash the arrogance away and MM mumbling away about the past.

Both having cheap shots at SF, who weren't there to defend themselves. Which may turn out to be a mistake.

Leo looked like he couldn't remember what he said in the past ré having taken drugs, and looked bad in that moment. As I say, v v bland 'debate'.

I’m sure the Shinners will have plenty to say unrebutted about FG and FF.

Why must political debates always be metaphorised as boxing fights by "pol corrs", ie. "Varadkar wins on points but does not land a knockout blow"

Every bloody time

Could they not metaphorise them as, say, a tennis match or something, just for a change

ie. "the Fianna Fail man, as ever, relied on his trusty backhand stroke"

"Varadkar's attempt at a winner on transport policy was directed wide into the tram lines"

"Martin criticises Varadkar's housing policy as a racket"

"Ooh, a nice ace by Martin there"

"The former justice minister is bringing an all court game"

"Varadkar doesn't like hard courts but he loves grass"

"FF are hoping for 25% of the vote but they'd love-30"

"And that's game set and match to everybody except FG and FF, as that was turgid"

Have a few things backed in the election, Whitmore in Wicklow at 9s and Lettie McCarthy in Rathdown at 16s, both prices long gone, also backed Gibney in DL at 50s but she's withdrawn

Was trying to get a price on Shane Ross to lose his seat but couldn't get one, was 1/9 to retain last night, 1/2 now

Cathal Berry 6/1 to win a seat in Kildare South might be worth a flutter. Former Defence Forces officer running primarily on a platform in relation to the treatment of Defence Forces personnel. Fairly large military vote in that area with the Curragh there
Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

Bill O'Herlihy: Ah ye can't be saying that now Eamonn

Can’t get a link, but John Fitzgerald had an excellent article in the IT about resolving the housing crisis. Of particular interest is the fact that rent controls would be counterproductive in the Irish market, and how the supply will need to increase while fending off vested interests.

I wouldn't have thought so as they are related contingencies.

Reminds me of Harney’s 8 seat bet in 2002.

Right, so living away from Ireland I've totally missed hearing about this Aontu party.
A quick google search tells me they are left leaning and conservative - How does that work??

I’ve been meaning to ask about Aontu.

Unlike Renua their platform doesn’t seem to be universally right wing, save for the Repeal issue. Essentially they take a conservative position on that one issue.
