Southampton being relegated might benefit him though that's if they're forced to sell players or players push for moves away. Selling someone like Che Adams though they could afford to play hard ball with clubs for Warde Prowse and Lavia.

Probably see Smallbone on loan again next season with a club higher in the championship rather than battling in the bottom half.

This is all very encouraging. As was pointed out a few months ago this is his first full season without injury playing for a senior team. He was 23 yesterday.

For comparison.
Jason Knight was 22 last week. Jayson Mollumby is 6 months older than Smallbone. Both of them have played way more senior games.
It would damage this forums' reputation

A certainty to be called up and make his debut against Latvia on current form.

This is the Smallbone we all have been hoping for. Things are looking like they are starting to click for him since the new year with more regular goal contributions and hopefully he can back it up with some similar performances during the rest of the season. He seems to be putting in the work/effort on the pitch also, going by the reports and limited viewing of him.
We have to remember the injury this lad suffered during his prime development stage and breaking into the Southampton first team at 20yo. He was always going to be a late developer and needed a run of regular football staying injury free.
Hopefully we see more of the best of him in an Irish shirt in the near future.

How many goals does he have?! f**k off with the goals or goal involvements or accessories sh*te. Not aimed at John, sound as a pound poster on here, but football in general. Goals or nothing.

I think when ireland are crying out for a midfielder who can be the link between Cullen and the forwards and pick a pass, having a midfielder who can get assists with their passing is very interesting news. One lad getting a hattrick of assists is very impressive in any game so a good achievement from him

Ffs DH LOL Players can have other roles in football than scoring goals. We need that link in midfield badly and Smallbone could play that part nicely. Should at the very least be giving that opportunity with the form he's hitting.

1-a-side football. You could be on to something. Run it by that fella in the pub before you go to FIFA though.

Smallbone has scored two goals so far. He now has four assists under his belt which makes 6 goal involvements altogether this season.
Those three assists/goal involvements yesterday just doubled his overall goal involvements of the season.
In the first half of the season he only scored one goal with no assists, that is just one goal involvements.
But since the turn of the new year has has 1 goal and 4 assists which is five goal involvements in the nine matches of the 2023 half of the season.
I hope to see him get more goal involvements for Stoke which will add to his total career goal involvements of 9.
Interestingly for the U-21s Smallbone had 4 goal involvements in 8 appearances.
And for the U-19s he had 4 goals involvements in five appearances.
Smallbone seems to like getting goal involvements in an Ireland shirt. So hopefully he can maintain his goal involvement record for Ireland a senior level.
Have a nice goal involvement, I mean day.

The goal involvement measure is becoming a pain in the hole. Assists being accredited like they're goals.

Evan Ferguson 10 apps/7 goal (involvements) and sh*t like that.

Aye for a striker maybe. Different story when it comes to a midfielder.
