Really strange player selection, so many defenders on the field playing out of position. Not hard to see why James was released by Luton on this showing.

Decent result.
Would have beaten those lads by a goal or two with Parrott, Connolly, Bolger etc.

Frustrating to watch. Even a handful of the missing players and we'd have won that match

Absolutely. Probably a consequence of Mohan not really knowing his actual squad until a few days ago. Ledwidge looked far more comfortable when he went back to left-back, so expect him to start there next time withe Everitt coming in at left wing. Hodge and Regba were excellent today. Hodge is a real bit of class, somehow always has time to make the pass.

The two centre-halves did well too - McIntee similar to Duffy in playing style and posture.
Though Afolabi did well up front. With this system we play in our underage teams of 4-3-3 which is often like a 4-5-1, the striker often gets very little support. I though Afolabi handled that well, making one chance (the left footed shot) out of nothing by shrugging off two defenders making up serious ground before unleashing a handy shot. I felt Idah was unfairly criticised on here in a similar situation - where he did a good job of showing and holding up the ball; but hard to do more than that when you're double-marked at there's little support. I agree that with a few of the missing 13 odd players in that team we would have beaten Norway with some to spare. Barring them blitzing us for the first 15 min when we looked a bit star-struck, we were comfortable.

with a full squad we would have put 3 or 4 past Norway.
I think the Czechs and the French will be a step up in class

Is that a decent result? Would we have been expected to win?

For the under 17’s Joe Hodge was far and away our best player if injuries allow I believe he’s going to be a Terrific player...hope he stays on board.

Decent result alright, especially given we were behind for so long. Norway did well in qualifying, beating Germany to get here, so are no mugs.
They're missing 4 first teamers who were in the U20 world cup. Otherwise have their full team as most their players play in the Norwegian league. They were a good team, but took their foot of the gas after scoring. We're basically a new team that haven't played together as we're missing 13 of our best players. If we had a few of those, especially the U21 boys (including Connolly who was excellent in Toulon and will be making his senior debut soon if he keeps going at this rate), we would have be superior. Given the lads missing, it was a good result and nice to see the team gelling together well after a shaky start. If we can get another draw out of France, a victory against Czech will hopefully see us over.

Shift the starting line up around a bit (move Ledwidge to left back and play an actual winger) and I think we're still a pretty good side, even with the mass of absentees.

It was Uwe Rosler’s son who made the bad clearance which led to Hodge’s goal. Both players are on City’s books
Only 16 Hodge

It's a pity we didn't have the French last as they would have been already qualified moe than likely.

Just get stuck into them ruffle them up and put them off their game then play our own.
We always good at upsetting good sides. Seems great spirit in squad and that can always give you the edge even if that's an old fashion way to look at things.

Norway had a couple of very handy players, decent side alright. The French will obviously be a huge challenge, but I think there's definitely some ability in this Irish side despite the glaring omissions from the squad. Really feel Everitt has to start, or Ebosele if he's fit.
