It cant be beyond the wit of man to organise a grant scheme for suitable candidates to do their badges to an appropriate level. It also cant be that expensive in the overall scheme of things. It just needs somebody analysing the big picture and working out where and at what age level these coaches are required and to work from there.

Also, there needs to be a clear decision made re Academies, are the FAI going to support Academies at all/some clubs or are they going to set up their own Regional Academies across the country. They also need to work out how to maximise their/the clubs return from lads moving on to professional clubs abroad when they are 18. Either the young lads are contracted to clubs or contracted in some way to the FAI. Proceeds or a portion of such proceeds should be ring fenced for re-investment in to the coaching/Academy structures.

Not just the qualifications needed. I'm robbing these views from others who have already made the statements but they make absolute sense to me.

We need to get the coaches more access to the players. The best 15-18 year olds who are still in school are training with the LOI first teams to get the necessary training but for them to do that during the day they need to have a special agreement with their school, etc.

We need a full system in place and also one that doesn't only cater for only the very elite youngsters in the system since there can also be late developers who might get swallowed up if they are fast tracked to the adults team just to get the access to the training.

For example, from U13s and up the players at LOI academies would do the football during the day and then do their schooling after training at the academy. Thats going to take a lot of financing to put something like that in place.

I dont agree with changing the school day for them - the clubs should provide access to training outside school hours, that's a cheaper and more sensible option.

That match is on tomorrow on the RTE News channel which has been sh*te quality picture in the past.  But looking at the details of the programme on the RTE guide website it says it's in HD.

Coverage starts at 15:25 Wednesday 16/05

Yeah, 2023 and that RTE News channel is still running at a resolution that was dated in 2009.
Money well spent.
I suppose we should be thankful it is being shown at all but FS, stream it on YouTube or whatever.

In was in the context of him describing that all but 2 of the squad are domestic based where as before Brexit the majority would be based in the UK.

Might have meant English based players. Team is mostly home based players. Grante one of the English based players looks very comfortable with the ball at his feet and played a good long range pass earlier.

Aside from the early goal we've looked very vulnerable.

Our keeper looks very shaky.

The second of the so called 'English' players, Stanley Ashbee is having a mare. At fault for the equaliser. Another mistake from him very nearly put Poland ahead. Both teams look good foing forward. Don't think it will stay 1-1.

They're U17's players. They're only children. Relax.

Yeah fair enough. Hopefully they show improvement in the 2nd half.
