Had originally booked to fly from Tbilisi to Basel. KLM looking for €100 to change that to Geneva. Will look into the price/inconvenience of the train.

Trains about twice an hour, takes about two and a half hours, about €20 booked in advance with bahn.com if book from Freiburg to Geneva and ignore the Freiburg-Basel bit, but make sure you book well in advance and DON'T MISS THE PREBOOKED TRAIN or it will be €80-odd for a new ticket, tickets go on sale six months out. I've posted this a few times over the last few pages, but that's the basic price/convenience info again.

Ryanair have now cancelled Dublin-Basel flights. We were switched on to that from our original to/from Stuttgart. Lost the poxy hotel cost there, and now will probably leave the Basel hotel too.

Do you not use free cancellation? Sites like booking.com are essential for Ireland away trips.

Actually sorry, they sent me an email but now looks like not actually cancelled. Sorry if I alarmed anyone
yeah but the non-refundable option is usually a bit cheaper and I can't resist that gamble !

The two early morning options from Frankfurt are probably the best, seeing as they both only need one change. 07:54 Eurocity train bound for Milan, change in Olten, and the 08:50 ICE bound for Interlaken, also change in Olten. They shouldn't be much more than €39.90 and total time is under six hours.

Ah, good thinking. The ones with two changes are just as quick and Swiss trains run like clockwork. Still, I'm not sure I'd love to be arriving in Geneva less than two hours before kickoff - Deutsche Bahn are not as reliable as there reputation here would suggest and they are the first train, over the longest distance. All the same price though. Just make sure you book shortly after they go on sale.

There's a platform by the stadium and presumably they'll have special trains on - if you're at the main station in Geneva an hour before kick off, I reckon you'll be fine.

From what I've read it seems getting the tram is the best way to get there.

Only 16k in Basel tonight to see them play Denmark in what you would think is their biggest game.
I know we're in Geneva and a smaller stadium but that's very poor from the Swiss
