Yeah I actually agree with most of that Brick. We can only speculate what the FAIs stance on it is and I actually think the fans backing plays an enormous part in commercial and marketing issues.

The fans have a say for sure.
The positivity towards the team and SK for the sold-out Qatar friendly was surely an eye-opener for the FAI brass. Then follow that up with the home Portugal full-house, huge audible support for SK and the team again, and then an away trip where we did a very good job bullying a previously tricky (shouldn't have been, but was) opponent and the feelings of the fans can't be in doubt. If we only get an extension for the NL, then the question is - what is the measure of success to be for that campaign? It's a rhetorical question as we will all have our own based on different criteria. But for me the biggest issue with such a short extension is the continued scrutiny on the manager's contract, when we should be focusing on the players and the performances. |

SK has set a high bar for the NL, top the group. So if we finish bottom of the group, well its difficult to see the FAI want him to stay on for the EC. In between those two extremes its hard to know what success looks like.

Talking about winning the group without knowing he's in the group with is a bit silly. It's ok to be ambitious and set high targets for oursevles, but it was naive of him to do so. We could get a stinker of a group!

This. And for those saying Kenny has no power in negotiations, consider the following two headlines. Which makes better reading in the eyes of a potential sponsor? How do the fans feel moving forward? It's time to put an end to the uncertainty and constant bickering imo, it's gone on too long at this stage. 1) Irish Football once again in turmoil as Kenny quits following what he describes as derisory offer from the FAI 2) FAI award new contract to Kenny for Euro 2024 campaign

Yeah, that was a strange comment. Ogbene has been one of our brightest players, 2 goals in 5 short appearances, creates chances, gets into good positions, works hard for the team, he's been a handful for every team he's played against. At 24 he's on an upward trajectory, won't be playing for Rotherham much longer. Why on earth would we want or need to replace him?

I actually enjoy the debate between the fans on this forum regarding SK and can usually see where both sides are coming from. For the fans that put their point across imformatively that is.
Then you have the usual who's repetitive jibes, personal digs and spouting the same sh1te just completely take away from it all.

Big time yeah - very naive from Kenny (again). He's creating a rod for his back here.

I don't think its realistic to expect us to win the group, but if we can get a play-off on the basis of it, job done really.

What’s been so impressive about his stint in the Fai so far? Is it the lack of sponsor? Or maybe that it took him about 9 months to move to Ireland? Is there anything of note that he has done so far?

Such antagonism toward a guy you have no clue about...wonder what could be the cause of that?

What did he exactly say? If he said it’s his ambition to win the group then whats wrong with that? anyone using that against him is a bit pathetic. If however, if he said we will top the group, then thats different of course and is indeed handing a rod out.

Exactly! He said that they're going to take it seriously and their ambition is to top the group. Its wild the spin some people put on this.

Nothing wrong with that, except if half way through the campaign he suddenly states that the intention was in fact to use the NL to build for the EC. There is form here.

As long as we dont finish 4th / last, we practically have a playoff spot already whether we finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd. There only advantage of finishing 1st and winning promotion to League A is to be bumped up to 2nd seeds from 3rd seeds for the Euro 2024 draw. Theres very little between teams in Pot 2 and 3 though anyway.

Thanks, was genuinely curious. Haven't seen much of him for Rotherham but did see that he was playing RWB a lot so thought it was a bit hopeful to be expecting goals from him.
