Not a chance. At 23 the training doesn't mean sh*t anymore, he needs to be playing football. Apparently he's earning around £5.5k p/w now, not impossible to earn that, or close, at a lower Championship or top League One side.

Its £2k less than the average Championship wage. As you said could be earning that or more there or give or take the the same top half of League One while playing week in and out.

Its not like hes in a similar position to say Kelleher who is a on substantial amount to be back up keeper at a Premier League club he probably wouldn't get anywhere else. Nor is he getting games in the cup or in Europe like Kelleher. Nor he is playing/training week in/out with would class players like him.

If he was, then you could maybe understand him wanting to be a squad player there but hes miles off it.

not about being in a squad for premiership games he is still earning a good wage there and the same for kelleher he has good training in the premiership and does not need to drop to first division or swiss league for games. Same old story when it comes to lad in the spl where people here dont realise that football at a top club makes more difference then at small clubs dont matter how much you play. look at hendricks he was much better when at prem club and not even playing now he is playing first division barelely kicks the ball haha

they've played 15 matches this season and the grand total of his involvement has been making the bench 4 times with the last time being a month ago. as mentioned he would get similar or better wages elsewhere and certainly would if he went to a championship team and played well. look for example at josh cullen.

Especially when his West Ham contract runs out and he has no bargaining power with potential clubs because he's played so little by the age of 23/24. It's far more detrimental to his long-term earnings than if he had moved a year or two ago.

That sort of thinking only works if you think you are sh*t and think you are going to be found out.  His contract will run out and his cv is sh*te.    Playing games makes you more likely to earn money over the course of your career

Coventry has 4 loan spells under his belt a handful of appearances for West Ham, his CV is grand. He'll likely get a Championship move in January.
We're decent enough..

Linked with a permanent move to Sheffield Wednesday. Supposedly some interest from other clubs in the championship, League One (Charlton were named), and Netherlands.

Would be most interested in him going to Netherlands if it's a decent club.

He shouldn't be entertaining talks with League 1 clubs, he already proved himself above it with his spell at MK Dons & then helping Rotherham stay in the C'ship last season.

Wednesday are in a relegation battle, but maybe have turned things around a bit in the last month (4 wins in 7).

Maybe he could force a loan, and then see about a free transfer in the summer.

Looks like he is joining Charlton in League 1 on a permanent deal. Disappointing enough move although he will at least play. Feels like just more evidence of how much time he has wasted, he proved he was good enough for that level 2 or 3 years ago.

And they're mid table. At least when he joined MK Dons they were challenging for the league.

Yeah it's a disappointing move alright. From the outside looking in it seems to me Charlton probably beat off other teams given he won't have to relocate since they're only down the road from where he lives.

Any move whereby he's playing every week is a good move. The chap is nearly 24.

Not the only Irish person joining Charlton today, Curtis Fleming has been announced as their new assistant manager.
