What do people expect? He's a defensive midfielder in a game that WH dominated. It's not his job to get forwards and shoot which would be more flashy for player ratings and he didn't have much eye catching defending to do either as the opposition were limited. He did his defensive bit and played some nice passes, did absolutely nothing to criticise.

The effort to be negative is so wierd, the kid is in the start of his career noone is saying he is the answer we can't write him off though. Players do improve after the age of 22 especially as they get more regular gametime.
I like CC but it's not like I think he's a superstar just think if he gets regular gametime (somewhere else hopefully from jan) he's probably at least a squad player for us in a position we have awful depth.

It goes both ways. Okay, I haven't been that impressed with him watching the U-21's but different people see different things. What isn't in dispute is that the Peterborough loan spell didn't work out very well. If he struggled with the step up to the Championship, I find it odd how people assume he'll fit in like a glove at international level and not just be another Daryl Horgan or Ronan Curtis whose level is League One football. We're seeing it with Troy Parrott at Preston; there's a considerable gap between impressing at MK Dons and sustaining that form at a higher level.

Seemly been told by West Ham he is free to find a new club ahead of the January transfer window.

Was hoping he was starting to get a look in at being a squad member at least.

Good he needs to find somewhere long term where he can get regular minutes. Would be good if he could get a loan for the rest of the season before moving permanently in the summer.

Always gonna be the case, and hopefully he can emulate Cullen and go out and find a club where he can make his mark.

Yep, he certainly doesnt look like a PL player as things stand. He may develop into one in time, but I wouldnt be overly hopeful on that score. If he can find a decent Championship club and start regularly, that would be a good starting point for him. He only ever looked decent at U21 level imo - if he can build as good a career as Cullen has done, he'll be doing well.

Loan move confirmed. Struggled at the bottom end of the Championship the last time he was there with Peterborough so hopefully he is more ready for it now.

And has extended his contract by 12 months with likely an option to extend it by a further year club option as his old contract had.

Good chance Barlaser will be leaving Rotherham so he should go straight into the team.
We're decent enough..

It'll be a tough move, Rotherham are struggling. But playing regularly in the Championship could see him capped in March. One more option to bump Hourihane down the list.

Yep, Barlaser has been signed by Boro.

I think that will be so they can sell him in the summer rather than let him walk for free. If he had a future there they'd give him a 3 or 4 year deal.

West Ham already had an option to extend his contract till 2024 without him signing a new deal.

Okay so checked West Ham's website where they announced the loan and says:

West Ham United are pleased to announce that the Club have exercised the option to extend Conor Coventry’s contract by 12 months.

So looks like they extended his current deal rather than it being a new contract. Everywhere else keeps saying he signed a new one year deal but seems like they've only extended his contract by 12 months.
