5/1 for the 0-0 draw could be the bet tomorrow night.

Surely we have to win with two of their better players not playing. But stranger things have happened.

Odd thing is if we sneak a 1-0 tomorrow night - we go to Aarhus next month with a chance of winning the group.

It all depends what it says on page 67 of Brian Clough's Guide to Management (1972-1991).

That's the tie breakers,
  1. Higher number of points obtained in the matches played among the teams in question-We'd be ahead on points anyway if we win
  2. Superior goal difference in matches played among the teams in question;- if we were to win 3-0 we'd both have scored 4 goals over the two games hence our goal difference will be 0
  3. Higher number of goals scored in the matches played among the teams in question;-similar to above
  4. Higher number of goals scored away from home in the matches played among the teams in question;-we'd have scored 1 away to their 0
  5. If, after having applied criteria 1 to 4, teams still have an equal ranking, criteria 1 to 4 are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the teams in question to determine their final rankings If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria 6 to 10 apply;
  6. Superior goal difference in all group matches;
  7. Higher number of goals scored in all group matches;
  8. Higher number of away goals scored in all group matches;
  9. Higher number of wins in all group matches;
  10. Higher number of away wins in all group matches;
  11. Disciplinary points in all group matches (1 point for a single yellow card, 3 points for a red card as a consequence of two yellow cards, 3 points for a direct red card, 4 points for a yellow card followed by a direct red card);
  12. Position in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system.
FYI I'm not saying we are going to win 3-0, I'd take a 1-0 off the arse of Joe Allen.

If we start Christie in midfield again we can forget about winning any football match.
Walters coming back from an offside position but Shane Long was definitely onside- Shane Lonnggggggg.... has done it!!!!

If we are going to lump it which I have no doubt we will, at least have some pace around Shane Long. He does win a fair amount of headers. It probably needs to be a 4-3-3 to match theirs but MON will no doubt throw a surprise name in there for the sake of it. Matt will probably be on the bench and he will start Aiden O' Brien or something with the virus back right full. You can't predict a MON team. Surely we will be galvanised by their sick list.

Eh, if we win, the tiebreakers are:
1. Points between teams: Wales 3 - Ireland 3
2. Goal difference between teams: Currently Wales +3, Ireland -3

If we do beat Wales by one or two, then the worst result next month is a draw between Wales and Denmark, because then we would need to beat Denmark. If we beat Wales by 2 and Wales draw with Denmark, it leaves the table as Wales 5 (-1), Denmark 4 (+2), Ireland 4 (-1) and then we need to beat Denmark, because our goals scored will be the worst if we draw with them (and they would win the group).

Ideally, we beat Wales, Denmark beat Wales, and we are heading to Aarhus safe in second with a shot at first. Very unlikely, of course.

We will likely draw this game and when O’Neill is pushed on the fact Wales were missing their two best players his excuse will be we were missing Coleman and Brady.

I think MON will revert to a 4-5-1 for this game, with Christie starting at right back and Doherty dropped.

Hendrick and McClean will of course start too.
