France didn’t play well today but were the best team in the competition.

I say Croatia would love to play that game again.
A few mistakes really cost them and they gave away soft goals.

Great to see lots of goals but the quality wasn’t great considering the players on show.

Don't think that'll be an issue at the next world cup somehow or other. LOL

Best footballing team lost. Such a pity to think Pogba will have a World Cup winners medal but Modric won’t. Not one performance from France that won me over. Croatia will be remembered in better light than France when they talk about Russia 2018. No cup but more respect imo.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

It is. The anti-VAR crowd use every subjective decision to continue fighting a losing battle against the use of it. With it, there's no more "ref only has one look" arguments. The ref reviewed the incident, and made an informed decision.

We've seen those calls given before, without VAR. So you can see why the last decision was overturned. And with VAR, handballs are much more likely to be given for these incidents. It would help if we had VAR communication between the room and the ref opened up. I'm sure it will be here for the next tournament.

I said France would wrap it up halfway through the second half, and they did. When they had their chances, they took them. The game went pretty much as expected.

I’d say absolutely NOBODY would say the game went as expected.

6 goals - an OG, a VAR given peno, a goal scored outside the box in a WC final for the first time in decades, then another, a drunk Sunday league error from the GK... Croatia well on top in the first half.

France were expected to win. France led at half time and full time, winning by a 2 goal margin, with all their goals scored by midway through the second half. France won, so the game went as expected.

Think the Croat keeper was poor for the penalty. Did he not study the  penalty by Griezmannn v Argentina? If he did, he should have stopped it.

One other thing. The decision to move the presentations out of the standw, and onto the pitch for the first time since 2006, will no doubt be investigated, given how long it took and the weather when it took place. UEFA and FIFA might want it out on the pitch these days, but I doubt the other dignatories would want to get soaked again.
VAR: Cutting the crap out of football.
