Big VAR malfunction at Spurs today. VAR reviewed the goal, decided it was a goal, told the ref it was a goal, then flashed on the big screen "No Goal". The ref who knew it was a goal told the team to kickoff, but everyone else in the stadium was mystified. Watford fans celebrating as they thought it was disallowed. Spurs fans not celebrating.
Right decision but killed the most fun moment of the afternoon for Spurs fans.

Why don't they show the replays on the sscreen like the rugby so everyone can see for themselves and have the ref miked up to the crowd like NFL? Stupid

As I said last week, it’s a good system in theory and in other sports but for some reason they’ve no clue how to use it in football

IFAB don't allow it atm. They will eventually. Could take a few years though. 10 years ago, we were told there would never be any technology used in football. When Platini was thrown out of FIFA instead of elected President, the stubborn resistance to it crumbled with him. Now it's part and parcel of the game at the highest level. There is still dogged resistance at the top, to communicate with crowds/viewers what exactly is going on. But like I said, that will come as well, in time.

My main problem with it is the VAR is reluctant to over rule the ref.
Take the de Bruyne penalty appeal today for example If the ref had given that I 100% can guarantee that the VAR wouldn’t have over ruled him |

Roy Keane's take on VAR - it shouldn't be overruled unless the referee has made a blatant mistake. He didn't make a blatant mistake because he wasn't in a position where he could see the foul.

Any game I have watched with VAR they have been the correct decisions and I include that awful game at Bored Traffordtoday.
