Fair play to durrant. I thought he was gone. Hes the best player in the BDO. Isnt he going to give the PDC a go now i believe. Showed he can compete in the grand slam a few months ago.

He comes across, both on the stage and in his interviews, as the kind of nice but very odd chap that people avoid down the pub.

Another year gone by without a 9 darter in the BDO Worlds. Durrant staying in the BDO because he'd be stripped of the prize money if he jumps ship. He has the talent to be top 20 in the PDC but not the nerve. Always looks like he sh*tting himself on stage

How does this stripping of the prize money work? Surely the money is his now and goes into his account. The BDO can hardly have a leg to stand on, legally, if he pockets it and then buggers off to the PDC? |

Probably said that about Daryl Gurney and others when they left the BDO though in fairness

Durrant certainly has the ability to make an impression in the PDC, should he choose to, I would wonder about his temperament in the more distracting atmosphere. He seems to get put off and upset with himself quite easily.

Maybe if he was 10 years younger, Durrant is 46/47 , he will b happy staying where he is, picked up a nice 100grand (again) and will have a shot at the pdc UK open and grand slam in November

Year after year we hear the boot boys of the pdc deluding themselves about the quality of BDO players.
Have a look through the pdc field and see what those players did in the BDO, and the answer is usually: fook all. Their current champion, Robert Cross, failed to ever qualify for the World Pro and his best performance in a major was to reach the last 48 of the Winmau World Masters two seasons ago, where he was beaten by Darious Labanauskas, who went out in the first round at Lakeside this year. Gary Anderson in seven tries, lost four times in the first round at Lakeside and only once reched a semi-final. Michael van Gerwen never won a match at Lakeside. Nor did Peter Wright. Daryl Gurney, who is the pdc's number four ranked player, managed to win one game at Lakeside. As was the case with James Wade. Simon Whitlock, Wayne Mardle and Kevin Painter were also rans in the BDO yet all instantly became major players in the pdc. Dave Chisnall left the BDO and beat Phil Taylor up a stick at the exhibition event at Ally Pally in his first year there. Yet all these are the exact same players that the boot boys were deluding themselves were "no use" for years. The boot boys deludedly attempted to deride Raymond van Barneveld and John Part as "fake world champions". Yet when they eventually moved to the pdc, they well and truly put the plastic champion Phil Taylor back in his box. The reality is that there was only one world darts champion in 1994 - John Part. And there was only one world darts champion in 1998, 1999, 2003 and 2005 - Raymond van Barneveld. As was the case with Les "McDanger" Wallace in 1997, Ted Hankey in 2000 and 2009, Tony David in 2002, Andy Fordham in 2004, Martin Adams in 2007, 2010 and 2011, Christian Kist in 2012, and Glen Durrant in 2017 and 2018. And so on. The reality is that at any given point in time, the BDO's standards will always be higher than that of the pdc. And the same is the case today. That's the reality. |

Sid the avid darts follower doesn’t even know when it’s sudden death or not How the hell can anyone take what ya take seriously, the utter sh*te that you post year on year is laughable, I get a good laugh out of it, I look forward to 2019’s ramblings. |

Apparently the BDO made their players sign an agreement stating that they would be ineligible to receive prize money if they made it as far as the semi final but the. Jumped ship. Durrant was quite open about the fact that if he went out before the semi's he would have gone to Q school for this reason. |

In an association football penalty competition, a sudden death situation occurs after the regulation five penalties have been taken, ie. 10 in all, and the teams are still level. When the 11th penalty is taken, the competition cannot end on that kick. Another one has to be taken whatever happens. But the 11th penalty is still counted as part of the sudden death scenario. When a final set in darts reaches 2-2 in legs, it's the exact same situation, with leg 5 being the equivalent of the 11th kick of a penalty competition. Thus it is part of the sudden death scenario. Leg 6 has to be played whatever happens, and that is the equivalent of the 12th kick in a penalty competition. End of argument. |

have to say I really enjoyed the BDO this year, the standard isn't as good but it makes it more exciting when they're missing doubles flat out at big moments in the games!
the pdc you can take it for granted the vast majority of the time that if they have 3 darts in hand for a double they will take it out, not so in the bdo.

TOP TIP: Create your own BDO darts match by writing the number 501 on a piece of paper and subtracting 26 or 41 from it every 20 seconds
