That is why Glen Durrant is a true champion.
He saves his career in glorious fashion, emulating another true champion Scotty Waites earlier in the day by coming back from 4-1 down to win. That's how much players want to stay in the BDO, the Best Darts Organisation. And tomorrow, it's Scotty versus Duzza. Yes. Fooking, yes! |

Another amazing quarter-final.
Unterbuchner uber alles! Three quarter-finals, three deciding sets. This is why the Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship is the greatest show on earth.

Sid are you winding up or do you really love the BDO? . Must say it has been an enjoyable watch and the 2 matches today were really exciting. I always saw it as the europa league of darts though. |

The most memorable day of darts I've ever witnessed.
Four quarter-finals, four final set epics. They'll call it FINAL SET FRIDAY as long as this great game is ever played. All eight quarter-final participants are true guardians of our game and all should take equal pride in and credit for their contributions to the sumptuous feast of arrows action they have given to us unconditional lovers of the game. Thank you Scotty, Andy, Duzza, Jim, Michael, Richard, Geezer, and last but certainly not least, Wayne. Geezer's nickname is "Gladiator" but Wayne can lay equal claim to that title too given how he performed. The way the two warriors embraced after Geezer's clinching dart was reminiscent of how Micky Ward and Arturo Gatti embraced after their third war in the ring. What they share, we will never know. Only they will. And that's the case for all of today's other participants too. Privileged to have watched it. Fooking privileged. Just gutted it's over. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to content myself with tomorrow's two semi-finals, the ladies' final and Sunday's men's final. Oh yes. Lovely darts. Edited by sid waddell - 13 Jan 2018 at 12:22am |

Lisa Ashton is our ladies champion for 2018 after beating Anastasia Dobromyslova 3-1 in a pulsating final.
Paul Nicholson called it "the greatest performance in the history of the ladies' game". Lisa averaged 89.80 on the official, regulation Winmau board, which is the equivalent of 110 on a pdc board - that's higher than this year's winner of the pdc tournament. Robert Cross. Astonishing arrows from the Lancashire Rose.

Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

Some opening to this box office semi-final between Duzza and Scotty.
Scotty took out 460 in 8 darts in one leg. Glen is playing to his usual world class standard. He leads 2-1. The opening stages of this is like Hagler v Hearns 1985. But unlike that clash, we're going to go well beyond the third round and who'd bet against it going the full 11?

I find it very good timing the issue of equality was in the front pages of the English papers this week.
The men get £100k for winning The women get £12,000
I know the venue is stuck in the 70's still but doesn't mean they have to be.
