Alan Quinn as well then (not bothering to check if he's been mentioned, the younger brother never made the senior sides I believe)

That's Keith Quinn. He plays with Bluebell in LSL Sunday senior.

Their nephew Ben is a very well regarded youngster involved with Cherry Orchard and the Irish development squad. Obviously good football genes in the family.

Yeah remember Warnock always saying Keith was meant to be as good if not better than Stephen when at United.

Is this the same Paddy Roche that played for Manchester United?

Even in the League of Ireland I can't think of many southside goalkeepers.

Eamon "Sheila" Darcy who kept goal for Rovers for years in the 60's/70s was from Kildare.

There were a few really good, long serving goalkeepers around the League of Ireland in the 1980s and 1990s. Dave Henderson (one of the Cabra Henderson goalkeeping dynasty) and the O'Neill brothers, Dermot and Alan.

But they were Northside too.

What about Jody Byrne, the other member of that 1980s/1990s Dublin LOI goalkeeping generation?

Christ, even in GAA I can barely think of a Dublin goalkeeper from the southside.

At this rate, Niall Quinn might have to go in nets for the Southside XI.

He’s from the Wicklow side of Bray (Ardmore Rovers), though he’d of been born in Dublin if that helps his cause.

Don't think he got a senior cap but Trevor Molloy who starred in the World U-20 Cup in 1997 is from Sherriff Street.

His team mate Robbie Ryan who was tremendous in that tournament and later played in an FA Cup final for Millwall but never got a senior cap, played his underage football for Belvedere, so presumably is also Northside? Works on the London Underground now.
