Previous issues off the field, but a possible change of attitude in more recent times? Equally applicable to both players.

Obafemi is basically Connolly but slightly quicker and with a better eye for goal.

Tidy finish from a tight angle. An Irish striker with an eye for goal and now scoring consistently, looking forward to seeing him in the squad this week...

No other Irish player is scoring regularly at a higher level. He has done more than enough to be in the squad on merit.

Gonna be a story if he's not in the squad now.

5 goals in 9 Championship games since the start of February, given our striker problems it's going to be THE story if he's not called up.

Kenny has a tonne of grief to gain and nothing to lose by calling him up.

He 100% has to be in the sqaud and should get a run out. A striker in great form Clap

Kenny would have a fair amount of explaining to do if he was not called up.

Connolly, Robinson, Ogbene, Keane & Obafemi all with goals this week. Great to see our strikers in form

And Kenny has the greatest freedom to do as he wishes up top. Apart from Robinson, nobody made themselves indispensable during that period, at international level (unless Ogbene is classified as a forward). So I would like to see some evolution there and the performances of Obafemi and Hogan (albeit dropping off a bit) being taken into account.

Don't hold me to this, but didn't Aaron Connolly make a cryptic tweet when Obafemi was called up to the seniors for the first time?

They're both strong personalities. Maybe there isn't room for both of them?

Could be nothing in it but maybe Kenny doesn't want to disrupt a harmonious group.

Yes, they've both had their moments on social media - as I said earlier this evening they're very similar types. Would be amazed if that was any kind of issue in terms of calling him up though, that's the kind of thing any half decent manager would sort out within 10 minutes of the two of them turning up for the first training session. Get the two of them in a room, talk through any issues and everyone moves on.
