So the awards tonight, of course we all know who has won the Young Player of the Year award but I haven't seen any of the other award nominees.
Anyone any idea? Obviously 2018 wasn't a great year for us. Who actually stood out from an International perspective. Randolph? Duffy? Not many to choose from the goal category either Judge vs US Williams v Wales O'Brien v Poland only goals we actually scored bar Burke against US |

And if he were to, and even if he turned up and accepted the award - as shown by the Grealish episode - this would be indicative of absolutely nothing.
Are they going to save us all a load of embarrassment and rename the 'Senior International Player of the Year' award the 'Least S**t Player of the Year' this time round instead?

I wonder will Declan Rice be in with a shout for the U-21 award?

yeah I thought that too... you can see who is well able to talk on the tv.... Robbie / hartson (good choice) even coleman is getting better..... other lads are too young or not used to tv... it is a bit like pulling teeth for Collins and cantwell....

Robbie Brady is not and will never be consistently good enough from game to game to win a POTY award. I also thought Wes v Swedan was a better goal as Wes hit it so sweetly. Nothing personal against Brady he just hasn't done it at club or internationally in my mind and blows hot and cold. A very important player no doubt but not reliable enough for me.

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

yea agree here. thought coleman deserved POTY, and definitely thought mcclean's goal was 1, wessi's 2, and brady's 3. But as you said, it's the lazy decision that's won out.

Had Brady not scored vs Italy he wouldn't even have been nominated. As ever with these awards it's the lazy decision that attracts the most attention is the winner.
Don't get me wrong Brady has had a great season but Hendrick, Coleman and Randolph should have been the three nominated. Even Brady's goal didn't deserve to win. The "best" goal was McCleans vs Austria. Brady's was just the most important. |

Yeah she's fairly good in her own right at presenting, did the Olympics too......tho was never overly impressed with the goals highlights part on the CL programmes, always struck as copying the SKY/BT format for copying sake Edited by gazurtoids - 19 Mar 2017 at 9:32pm |
