Seems like the Germans are a bit nervous ahead of the vote today based on Rafa Honigstein's article today.

Ireland not being there was the only drawback to a brilliant time I had at World Cup 2006.  Hopefully they will be in Germany in 2024.  Looking forward to it already

Ah now. Gazientep is a stone's throw from Syria and travel there is heavily advised against, Eskisehir and Konya aren't exactly known for their beaches, Trabzon is a nightmare to get to and from and traffic in Istanbul is a total nightmare.

There were far, far too many uncertainties with Turkey. With Germany, you know exactly what you'll get: plenty of accommodation, good public transport in the host cities, modern stadiums, large stadiums, cheap beer, easy flights to and from Germany and surrounding countries, fast trains between the host cities, fantastic autobahns criss-crossing the country, willing and able hosts and smooth organisation.

Certifiably the correct decision.

Hopefully if we get there we'd be in a group which plays all their games in and around the West side cities Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Koln, Gelsenkirchen area but you know it will be organised that you'll play one game in Hamburg one in Munich and then the last one in Leipzig.
