Sky have cut back on a few sports - golf, tennis , La Liga Totally relying on the EPL/Championship now. Illegal streaming, shorter attention span etc is slowly killing them. |

Federer and Nadal were due to play in the 1/2 finals of Indian Wells but Nadal has pulled out with injures again.
I read that he has only completed 3 HC tournaments since the start of 2018. He needs to manage his schedule better. One HC warm up before AO and US open, play both of those slams and the WTF and that’s it. No Sunshine double or Asian tour after the US open. He needs to be fit for the French which he should win for the next couple of years if he’s 100% fit. He doesn’t need the money and just needs to keep his ranking inside the top 4/8. Anyway, hope Fed beats Thiem in the final for tournament number 101.

French Open starts in 2 weeks:
It’s probably between Nadal and Novak but neither look on top form.
Nadal has not made one clay final this season. He has lost 3 semifinals in a row. Novak plays in the final of Madrid today but that’s his first final since the Aussie Open. |

Novak v Nadal in the final of the Italian Open @3pm today.
This is a key match with the FO next week. Nadal has not won a clay tournament this season (yet). Novak won in Madrid last week.
Edit: Nadal wins in 3 sets and was brilliant. 6-0, 4-6, 6-1. Novak will take some comfort that he won a set but he was blown away in the other 2. Nadal in course for 12 FO.

I'm pleased Djokovic lost. He's always been known as the worst of the big players in extremely windy conditions, that was how Murray beat him for 2 of his 3 majors. In his semi final against Thiem yesterday they went off for rain with him losing and having terrible trouble with the conditions. They then mysteriously didn't come back even though the rain stopped and there were 2 full hours of light left. What happened? Presumably the tournament organisers would rather have a Nadal V Djokovic final so tried their best to influence the result.

Thiem playing very well and winning his fair share of long rallies.
Needs to win this first set tho. Rafa #12 The hardest thing in sport - beating Nadal on clay over 5 sets. @33 he is still the man to beat.

Nadal is nearing Bobby Charlton comb-over territory.
He had a dodgy opening couple of games but is starting to hit some brilliant shots now towards the end of the 2nd set.

Cracking match between Nadal Kyrgios so far. 1-1 in sets. Kyrgios with a couple of underhand serves. Berating the ref non stop as well. Serious tension in this one, great viewing

I love Kyrgios, tennis needs characters like him.
So much ability too but just doesn't have the same drive and focus as the top players. |

Absolutely! I’ve had more interest in tennis in the past 24 hours than the past three years! Had he won I might have watched a match.
