Pity we can’t get a decent number 10 playing in England. With Noel King monitoring they don’t stand a chance

I'm not convinced Mick would be all that interested in Kelly anyway, even if he were to confirm his commitment to us. Firstly because of the sort of player he is, and secondly where he's playing. What good has excelling in the Eredivisie done Dan Crowley?

I read an article recently on Glenn Whelan where it stated he had received offers from Greece and Turkey but had been warned by McCarthy that he had to be playing in the Championship in order to continue being considered for selection.

Kelly isn't a number 10 tbf, he's a deep lying midfielder. Ronan, Judge, and Crowley are probably the only guys we have playing at a decent level that you could genuinely describe as "number 10's".
We're decent enough..

Whether it's a deep lying playmaker or a number 10, Mick is not going to be making any significant changes like this during his tenure. We won't see a proper number 10 integrated until Stephen Kenny comes on board.

Dodgy translation from a Dutch football news website, but Kelly says he wants to play for Ireland.

'Although Liam Kelly regularly played for the national youth teams of Ireland, he did not yet make his debut for The Boys in Green . "But maybe if I perform well at Feyenoord, that door will open," he says. "It would be a great honor and good for my development."'

Wouldn't be so sure. It's amazing how itchy some players suddenly get when the possibility of European Championship or World Cup opportunity is on the horizon.

The lad hasn't played a first team game in months - He'll be focusing on trying to win a place in the team first and foremost.

Agreed. But international call up will be far from the last thing on his mind. Especially in this euros 2020 season.

One glance at our squad and it is evident in our lack of a play maker.

Alan Judge - League 1 Ipswich
Jack Byrne - LOI Shamrock Rovers - no caps
Daniel Crowley - willem II - yet to be called up
Connor Ronan - on loan in Slovakia - yet to be called up

If I were Kelly, playing with one of the top Dutch sides, I'd fancy my chances.

They were 2 reputable managers.

Trap is one of the most decorated managers in football!

More importantly both did what they were paid to do, and that is qualify for a major tournament.

It is vital for us to get Mickey Johnston in green.. We've got a new exciting young winger as good as Tony Galvin .....

And? Coleman was off a poor season and Wes must be the most overrated player to play for Ireland.

If you look at the statistics for the likes of Paul McShane that season, people realise the decision to leave Coleman behind made little sense.
